Wild animals are neutral/aggressive, and are capable of attacking the player. Their behavior is much like you would expect, they will look at you when you're near, and attack when you're in 3 block's range. They'll only attack when they're looking at you, so sneaking could come into play with this. Attacks do 1 damage (1/2 heart), but they attack like Zombie Pigmen and wolves . Yes, that means that the entire "pack" will pursuit you until only one species is left standing. Oh, Wild animals have 20 health (10 hearts), cannot breed with anything, and always drop 1 meat.
So, now you know what they're like, now for how you interact with them other than the basic kill > use drops. You can "tame" the wild animals with wheat (Works like wolves), and they'll become the normal, domestic fauna we're all used to by now, with all the breeding and derp and what not.
Wild animals also respawn and despawn, like the good ol' days of Minecraft. Not saying that now is bad, just that the past was also good. NPC Villages will spawn domesticated animals, just to make it more fun.
how would one go about taming one of these wild animals? and how bot the domestic ones are found in NPC farms only so they dont wander around very much while the wild ones do? but i would like the idea of a tamed turkey
This exact idea has been suggested already.
If there were wild ones I would make them give low amounts of food back and they would be unable to become tamed. Why? It's balance between nomads and farmers. It's already easy to find domestic animals and make a farm, this would make it easier for nomads to get food(not too much food) and make it just as difficult for farmers to get food initially.

Sneak up on mob with wheat -> Try and tame it.
Taming it would make it TURN INTO the normal mob, like taming a Boar = little piggy
This is to help solve the problem of the animal famine that's plaguing so many servers, since Wild Animals will spawn like the old animals used to (Light + Grass).
@KyoShinda: They only give back 1 meat, although it could be a new meat that can't be cooked, and gives very little hunger.
Plus attacking the wild animal would cause it to attack you
This is a suggestion thread. People KNOW there are mods for these kinds of things. So stop being a **** and acting like they're retarded by telling them something they already know. Sometimes people don't like to install mods and like to stick with the vanilla. GTFO TROLL!

In another suggestion it was about a deer and if you got too close it would run and jump away from you. Maybe some would attack and some would avoid(add more use for bows)?
Great idea! Plus I can think of many ways wild animals' drops can add more content to Minecraft, and them being around adds more of a sense of being in the "wild" than in a huge monster infested farm, haha! xD

I could see how that could be implemented (Skeletons anyone?), but it'd be weird having an animal that knows how to strafe.
Pig = Boar
Cow = Bull/Ox
Chicken = ...Turkey?
Sheep = Goat?

You got my support!
