Now, Notch has been holding off ridable mounts for too long. So, here are a few ideas. Now, the horses are inspired by the Mo' Creatures mod, but there are some noticable differences. The type of mount will varry from location to location, but they will be rare. Now, with that out of the way, let's get started.
HORSES
Horse
These horses are standard. They are the base template for any mount in the game. They can be tamed by feeding them pumpkins. When tamed, they can be mounted. When on a horse, you can run as fast as your character does when he sprints. By giving any horse a saddle, horses can sprint themseslves, running twice as fast. Regular horses are found in Plains.
Hippocamp
These horses have the top half of a horse, and the bottom half of a dolphin. They swim around at least 20 blocks away from any solid block in every direction (in water of course). By giving them a saddle, they can sprint the same way you do another horse, but by feeding them a glistering melon, you can breath underwater as long as your on the horse for 1 minute.
Winged Horse
For those who don't know why it isn't called a "pegasus," it is because there are multiple winged horses, but only one is called "Pegasus." This is because Pegasus is the horses name, not it's species. Back to minecraft, pretty standard. They spawn from layer 106 to layer 126 in mountain biomes. Once tamed, they can be ridden. When fed a Glistering Melon, you can fly. The flying is preformed by jumping until at the desired height, and gliding (they have the fall speed of a chicken) then when you lose altitude, jump again. They can fly for 1 minute, but as they have the fall speed of a chicken, you won't be effected by fall damage unless you jump off.
Unicorn
This beast is a horse. It is found in seasonal forest biomes, but is very rare. Once tamed, they function like any other horse. By feeding them a glistering melon, three golden objects will spin around the horse. The blocks will provide light, and fire a lazer at any mob within 10 meters, lighting them on fire.
Nightmare
These horses are found in the nether. They give off portal decals like an enderman. They are a deep black with red tails and manes. Their ability is that they can swim in lava, and when fed a Glistering melon, they will leave a trail of green fire that can hurt nether creatures in its path. They player, Nightmare, and Tamed Hellcat are immune to the fire and will not take damage from it.
Mule
This small horse can have a chest placed on its back, which will allow you to have a traveling chest with you.
Kelpies
These are the only hostile horse. They are green with a narrow jaw and prominent bones in the texture, along with having narrow legs. Its eyes are a solid milky white. They also have frills on the sides of the head and a frill going down the neck, in place of a mane. They are the only horses with saddles already on them, but if you mount them, they will run to the nearest body of water and drag you down until you drown. They spawn only at night and within 10 blocks of a river or inside the swamp. When it becomes day, they go into deep water and despawn.
CATS!
House Cats
Cats are found in npc villages. If you feed one milk, they will fallow you. The cat can be helpful, as it can climb walls, and dosn't take fall damage. They attack for a small amount of damage, and will pick up items that you miss, or hold up to 5 items (more if stackable)
Hellcat
These cats are like wolves, but with a few major differences. They are immune to fire, and don't take fall damage. They look like a tiger with fire eminating from its paws. If fed a glistering melon, all the mobs it attacks will be set on green fire, which as said before will harm nether mobs.
EXTRA FEATURES
Dyed Pets
This is from Crazy's post about dyable wolves. HERE
But, with the pets that I'm suggesting, I need to say it. By dying your pets, you can easily tell them apart, and have an army of rainbow death machines. The only reason why I'm bringing the to attention in my suggestion is so I can have a yellow winged horse and name her "Fluttershy" :biggrin.gif:
Pet Armour
By crafting armour for your pet, you can keep them alive much longer than usual. I'm sick of having all my wolves die in a heated situation.
Better Pet AI
So, its simple, instead of a pet just bumping into a mob and them both take damage, how about the pet goes withing 1 block, hurts the enemy, has a cool down where it backs away in a spiral motion, and then goes back and hits again. Simple.
Well, those are my pet ideas. If you have anything you want to add to this, post below as that is what forums are for. If you want to write some constructive critism, go ahead (Just keep in mind "this is epic" and or "your such a fag" are not considered constructive critism) If you liked this idea, then please do me a favour and look at a few links below, as it is appreciated. Thank you.
