Because why not have enchanted food?
You probably would not be able to enchant cake.
Enchanting food would cost 1 level and could be done based on how many items are in the stack, sort of like this:
64 Items: basic level
16 Items: moderate level
4 Items: high level
1 Item: max level.
--Enchantments--
(Items marked N/S cannot stack with each other, and only one of them can occur on a food item at a time.)
Extra Nutritive: increases hunger restoration based on enchant level. 1/5 bonus for each level. Max level: V.
Physically Linked: decreases energy used for any action. Duration is 12 seconds times level. Max level: V. (N/S)
Metabolic Linked: decreases cost of sprinting after eating. Duration is 15 seconds times level. Max level: IV. (N/S)
Life Linked: half of the health damage you take is taken off the hunger bar instead. Max level: I. (N/S)
Ration: only applies to high level foods. Food gains a durability meter, and uses equal to level. Max level: V.

We have loads of foods, you can even get apples now (and golden apples if you're lucky enough)
People already complain about the hunger bar, why add pointless foods for them to complain about some more?
And no, they aren't just "same foods but with enchantments", they still are pointless for the most part.
