For those of us that either don't know how to keep our IP static or don't have the luxury of doing so, would it at all be possible to assign the servers certain codes that always connect to them no matter the IP? It'd be randomly generated when the server's software was booted up after the possible update that'd include it, the only problem (if it's a problem, I'm not too sure) is I believe it'd require the server to communicate with the main Minecraft servers you log into.
And that's about the entire idea really, I was thinking about it because my cousin hosts a minecraft server we play on regularly but his IP tends to rotate and he's not easily contacted.
Solution B: Minecraft creates a server list which is updated regularly with the new IPs for the server.
It'd be great if this was possible, but you need to know the IP to reach the server. Minecraft could host a service which keeps track of what IPs go to what Server, but that'd have to be updated by the server hosts, cause Minecraft cannot look through every single IP address in the world and check to see if it's the server you want.
There is no way to access a server with a changing IP using a code unless the server is updating the code so that it always points to its IP. That is annoying to do, and it would certainly be difficult with the firewalls.

Just use an IP redirect system, like dyndns.
