The other day, I was clearing a forest of tree tops with a flint and steel, and it occurred to me that it was too easy to start fires. In real life, it takes a while to start a fire, let alone a spark, with a flint and steel. So I thought that to balance the game, it should take a few seconds to start a fire. The flint and steel would perform an animation of the two components rubbing against each other and creating sparks. And just for good measure, it would be possible that it would have a 33% chance not to spark but fizzle with a puff of smoke. This would make it more of a "resource" then an “I can make a lot of these and burn everything to the ground”. Heck, this may discourage fire-griefers.
Please tell me your thoughts on this idea for an actual implication in the game.
I would appreciate it if you keep language to a minimum of PG because kids browse these forums, too. Thank you.
That's actually a really good idea. I also think that fire is too powerful. The other day on my server, one of my friends got bored and burned everything down, including my 3 story mansion. If they implemented this, I think it would reduce fire griefing a reasonable amount.
Yes, I support this idea.
Just like how it takes time to eat food now, it should also take time to start a fire. This way you have atleast time to react/ avoid/ kill a griefer or something, and it is more realistic.

I like it.
OK, fixed it. Thanks for the heads up.
P.S. Thanks for your support for the idea!
I'm just curious, but why is their a diamond on the sugarcane?Yeah, that's a great idea. I actually forgot to add that bit.
I support.
