So, after a hard work and getting diamonds for a pickaxe, and then 14 or something obsidian with the pick. Craft a portal shape is what comes next. Then, you craft flint and steel and light the portal, and step into the nether. You mainly see deadly mobs, some shining "stone", soul sand, netherrack, and maybe some gravel You mine what is best to get in the nether: Nether Bricks (for decoration), and glowstone (for both lighting and decoration). Nether Bricks shouldn't make tools, otherwise bricks probably would. Netherrack would be pointless since you could get better performance with stone, and most of the other things would be simply too silly. But glowstone, on the other hand should work nicely, but just breaking the glowstone blocks and crafting out of ONLY glowstone dust? Silly. I think it should be complicated. Each form would have tools. From Glowstone Dust being weaker than wood and last shorter than gold, to the Glowstone Ingots which would be slightly stronger than iron and last about as long as diamond to the glowstone gemstones which are as strong as diamond but last over twice as long, to the (ultimate) glowstone orb which is 5x stronger than diamond and has infinite durability.
