This topic is meant for giving uses to every plant or redundant item in Minecraft. The new, created items are things that can always be useful, assuring that players don't fill chests or incinerators with useless junk.
New Items-
Herbal Medicine- Made by crafting different combinations of two existing plants including reeds, cactus green, dandelion yellow, rose red, and both types of mushrooms. The medicines can cure poison, restore health, or give temporary armor bonuses.
Compost Bin- Crafted like a tall U shape of seven wooden planks. Right clicking brings up an interface with two boxes, separated by an arrow pointing from the lest one to the right. Rotten flesh, plants, bits of wood, etc., can all be placed in the left square. After 10 seconds, 1 item from the left square will become an amount 'Organic Material' based on the item's rarity, in the right box.
Fertilizer- If 1 bonemeal is surrounded by 8 Organic Material on a crafting table, it creates two fertilizer, which acts as bonemeal, but without the functionality as a dye.

This would be amazing. I think there should be bugs in the game with this as well. E.I A mosquito comes and bites half your heart away. There's a big red bump on your skin, You kill a mosquito, get its poison, somehow brew it with herbs to make a cure, and drink it so the bump disappears! Thats how medicines work you know. They put the poison in you so you fight it :biggrin.gif:
Well, we have milk, instant heal and regen potions. The herbal medicine would be redundant. It also wouldn't make sense if a medicine gave you armor bonus considering it's not physically protecting you.

But it could make you more healthy which could make you more resilient when fighting monsters.
Notch should have added Emerald Ore and made Wild Grass craftable with emerald dust to make a Herb. Then you'd brew a herb into a potion, and bam, you've got a Healing Potion. The idea of using glistering melons just seems so stupid to me. :sad.gif:
