okay, as you know in the latest "snapshot update" jeb has released the eggs in creative mode when used produce different mobs, ive invented a trap for an upcoming adventure map that would use these eggs in dispensers to spawn enemies which the player must flee from. the problem is:
1)these eggs fall out of dispensers when activated. like stone or other random objects, i propose they should be shot out similar to aarows, and spawn the mob where they land.
2) the eggs are not stackable. i suggest stacks of 12 eggs maximum as piles of 64 would simply spawn too many for most servers to handle. and seeing as you can only fit a maximum of 9 in a dispenser at a time as of now, it simply wouldnt be enough to force a player to retreat.
im simply asking to change a few properties of the eggs.
also, most of us have never seen giants, yet i know they are implemented in the jar file. it would be amazing to have an egg which spawns a giant, which we could use as a boss in our adventure maps.
please click the + sign on the bottom right if you think this would be a great addition to the already amazing game so we can get the forum moderators attention and hopefully forward this on to jeb.
I dis-agree. They are given to the player so they can look at the land they want a mob to spawn and right click it. Why put it in dispensers when you can create a mob spawner?
I dis-agree. Why would you want huge piles of eggs? They are only for spawning a few mobs not hundreds, get SPC for that!
then whats the point in having spawners if you can just place the mobs... -.-
not huge, i said 12. and you can hear the mobs when theyre spawned from a spawner, why would you want to go in a room when all you hear is arghbruarhaeatbrainsyummmargh, theres no way id go into a room full of those noises. plus you have to create the spawn rooms which occupy MUCH more space than a dispenser. and you can still place the mobs, much like chicken eggs, you still look at the land and be like, hey, wouldnt it be cool if there was an enderman standing over there? just throw the egg and voila! that way you dont have to walk over and be like ooh and one over there *walk* and there! *walk* just throw :smile.gif:
Since they don't get thrown from the player's hand, a dispenser with an egg should probably just spawn a mob right in front of it. Updating it to do that would also be a great way to introduce dispensers with a flint and steel setting the block in front of it on fire, and dispensers with tools to use them for as long as the current is powered.
I'm sure there are a bunch of other things that dispensers could do given the chance to prove themselves, but I can't think of any more good ones. :tongue.gif:

i totally agree :smile.gif:
i would love to see dispensers movable by pistons later in the future too, it would be amazing to have the pistons raise them from the ground and make them shoot their objects.
Changing spawner eggs to break when shot from a dispenser would be a good first step toward better craftable dungeon worlds. I'm working on an SMP project with a few friends making an adventure world and while we'll require things like disabling block breaking and whatnot ( to prevent people from circumventing things ) the dispensed spawner eggs would be a great addition allowing better crafted encounters. ( not to mention adding regular monster spawners as a placeable object in creative without needing hacks or mods )
