My suggestion is this:
Torches should be able to emit light by holding it.
I suppose the benefits of this would be that players could explore caves or at night without constantly placing torches.
It probably won't keep monsters away but that way you could explore caves without bypassing important minerals or turning the brightness up all the way just to see a fraction of the torch light.
It would add and adventurous aspect for exploring dark places.
That's a great idea, it should be in Minecraft. Yes, there's mods, but I don't like playing in Singleplayer.
