I'm sure others have thought of this at some point, but I didn't see a post about it anywhere, so I thought I'd voice my opinion.
The leftover levels we have should be based on experience gained, not levels themselves.
I don't understand why if I'm level 51 and buy a level 50 enchantment, I get reset back to level 1. The experience gain from 50-51 is obviously much greater than 0-1. The game should calculate the amount of experience we have and take that into account and give us the appropriate level for the amount of experience we have left, not just a simple subtraction of levels.
As of now, the game is discouraging players from continuing to level past 50, since its a waste of experience.
If I'm at bedrock level 300 blocks away from my enchantment table and I hit 50, I shouldn't have to feel obligated to stop what I'm doing just so I don't waste any experience.

Let me know what you guys think about it.
But I really do support your idea.
