Hey all, this is a very simple "patch" that I'd like to see happen.
EVENT: Merry Minecraft!
WHEN: December 20 to January 1
During the event, the game will undergo purely cosmetic changes.
Creepers will wear a santa hat
Cows will become reindeer
rail tracks will be candycane and licorice
Ladders will be golden tinsel
Pine trees will have red and yellow lights and tinsel
minecarts would become sleighs
chickens will lay "golden" eggs
cactus would become candy canes
Noteblocks would look like christmas bells
roses would appear as mistletoe
dandelions would appear as peppermint
leather armor would appear as a santa suit (each piece) and leather boots would appear as stockings.
During the event, this would be the default texture pack with the original as a secondary. After the event, the original would be default and the Christmas pack would be optional.
This is meant to be a light-hearted seasonal suggestion. All attempts are to avoid religious connotation as it only means to target the gift-giving Santa Claus and seasonal accoutrement. (I mean, Santa and the entire thing around Christmas are purely old-pagan anyway).
Please do not devolve this into a religious battle or take offense because you are Jewish/Athiest/Muslim/Hindu/etc. I mean, nothing destroys a light-hearted mood more than someone picking up a banner and starting a religious war over petty ********.
Very good idea... just one problem, especifically with mod users: if it's a patch, and if it does overwrite some archives of the game, then this have to be done very specifically to only ADD archives, not change them, or else all mod users will see only a black screen in their Minecraft Christmas. :/
Also, after this Christmas, i guess noteblocks could have also bell sounds as another instrument option. o/

Well, it would be v.1.0.0.1 for the Christmas event and v.1.0.0.11 for the after-christmas patch.

It's literally a patch and unpatch.
