I think it would be cool if the ingredients did not have a pre defined potion rather just an effect for example:
lets say you have a potion of healing, then you add sugar now you have a potion of healing that heals less but also makes you faster and everything would have different things this would also be good to make all potions base potions another example:
you have a bottle of water, you add some fermented spider eye which would have say -5 health then the potions would say -5 health then you add a glistening melon +2 health the potion would then say -3 health
there would have to be more ingredients (anything in the nether would be stronger than overworld) for overworld like lets say you kill a fish then you get fish gills which would have breath +10 or just normal food items. (and of course you could name your own potions)
I think it would be cool if each ingredient had a combination of properties like:
-One positive effect
-One negative effect
-Removes a specific positive effect
-Removes a specific negative effect
You would then mix and match ingredients together to get the best potion or poison you could.
