There needs to be a marketplace system in this game.
Think fallout 3 style trading.
Go to an NPC town, walk up to the market trader dude (who is only awake during the day)
barter items for other items.
Every item has a value and you trade it for items of equivalent value.
e.g
Iron bar = 10
Iron bucket = 30
Wood = 1
Wool = 5
Bed = 20 (rounded up because of crafting labour)
Then introduce a use for gold:
Bar of gold = 100
Put gold bar into a mint and it divides it into 10 gold coins which each have a value of 10
Put coins into furnace and 100 = 1 bar again
Put an iron bar into a mint and it becomes 10 coins worth 1 each
etc.
What do you think
also, you could create ATMs this way, put coins into dispensers and work out a way to use redstone and buttons to make it spit out money at you haha.
I think this is a good idea because; the reason why I use Too many items is because i get bored of hunting for resources to use to make items, if I am able to farm areas to sell and get the items i'm looking for, i'll be inclined to go hunt cows to sell their hide or to level a forest to get what i'm after rather than just spawning it. Make it a toggle able feature as well.
This has been suggest in many differant ways. And I like the idea of trading with NPCs. I even suggest a form in a thread, but I hate your take to be honest.

that's cool. How else could it be done?
Seems logical to me to assign value to items and to have the ability to barter items for items rather than through just a currency "coin" system.

Make gold nuggets currency and add more items and fix the prices a bit so every thing is actually worth buying.
