Been thinking about this for a while. Though the nether might not have any inhabitants. They might have been there in the past though, or something, to make it all mysterious and stuff. There could be ruins of past villages and **** like that.
Yeah, that would be cool, it would also add some back story to it.
Maybe in the "New End" the gravity could be very low (it's in space, or at least seems to be) and the jump height would go through the roof (literally) and you jump from one asteroid, fragment, island, whatever, in a single bound, also fall damage wouldn't occur here.
That would give the main End dimension a use since you be able to get used to it instead of getting thrown into the final boss fight with a new mechanic and being confused. Also, the Enderdragon would be able to control this aspect and would give a nice little twist.
just an idea on the dimension bosses i had:
this idea is based on opposites and how they work, and the nether and the aether/skylands are traditionally opposites, so their bosses should also be opposites, however, that leaves the overworld (which consists of land and ocean) and the kyther/abbys/aquos/whatever, which also consists of land and water.
however, water and lava/fire are more opposite than fire and air (element based, not religion thingie, as nether=hell, aether=heaven)
so three ways to look at the dimesion opposites are: 1. nether-aether OW-WD, 2. nether-WD OW-aether, or, 3. seeing the overworld as the base dimension, nether-aether and WD separate.
most people would probably agree that the OW boss should be slow but physically strong.
in our first model, the WD boss should then be strong in magical/special attacks, which, for me, works well with a water dimension, but, however, magical attacks also fit the aether well, and since air is generally seen as fast/quick, the boss would also be fast, meaning another opposite with the overworld boss.
the problem however (for me at least) is that air bosses should have some pretty quick attcks, low damage but high rate, whilst the water one could just have high damage spells.
the above ideas and statements of course would change depending on the kind of creature the boss would be, so it can be not at all like i said, it is just something i thought would make sense.

what if the over world boss was slow but high health, defence and attacks and also uses weaker ranged mud-ball attacks, the new-demention boss sould be all around and can only be damaged or super damaged by electric based sword and/or bow the nether boss could be... um don't realy know, mabye the ghast king like creature, and the sky-realm the fast, high ranged, low defence, moderate-low health. also the water dimention water could still be placed in the nether but whislt in the nether acts like normal water.
I think all of these are great, but we do have to worry about the height, but there could be different openings into the water. We could have what's already been planned, slow decent beaches, and cliffs that jut in. I love the water falls and running rivers too :tongue.gif:
But crabs in the water dimension should be hostile mobs that only spawn on sand and underwater and are like 2x4x3. Really like the piranhas though and the jungle spiders that have been suggested. Would also add sea turtles( 2x2 possibly tameable, neutral mobs that hunt jellyfish/ squid, could serve as a boat or combat helper when tamed).
Also while in water, you should still move slowly, but certain creatures don't take speed reduction and some even speed up (like crabs) while in water.
Other mob ideas:
Something like magma cubes and slimes a Bio-Cube
light blue with yellow eyes
emits a light level of 8 (bio-luminescent cube)
moves by springing to the side instead of up like the magma cube.
would drop luminessence, basically something you can craft into a block for light, or mix with jellyfish goop to make the underwater torches
and then maybe a clam/sea urchin
a block sized mob
c: invincible when shut, but when it opens, loot can be found inside, can be killed and replaced on land and made into basically a chest
s-u: hostile mob that hurts you by coming in contact with you, when killed drops urchin spines that could be used as the fins of the harpoons/spears

Hey, I'm going t be suggesting a boss for he nether! I hope you like! (Also keep in mind I'm using that template in the OP)(I also am not giving him a name)
Appearance
Ok, I'm not very good at drawing, and I'm not putting to much effort into this. The whole idea is to give you an idea of what it should look like:
The actual boss is in the middle, and you can 1 tentacle on each side of him. He is also supposed to be sitting in a pit of lava; please excuse the shitty artwork :tongue.gif:
How to reach
Firstly, you would have to find a Nether stronghold, and use an eye of the nether to find the portal there.
Where is the boss found? How does the fight initiate? E.g. End Portal.
A room similar to the end portal room. The portal will be upright at the very back of the room and will require you to replace the broken eyes of the nether (again much like the end) The actual portal will be a very dark red (maroon if you wish) Here's what I have:
Pretend the red wool a the end of the hallway is a portal.
You will spawn in the middle of the central platform, and the boss will burst out from the lava with his tentacles. 3 Health bars (which are red) will appear on the screen, each labeled as the following: Tentacle, Tentacle, Boss. Therefore, you won't be able to tell which tentacle is nearly dead when they plunge underneath the lava and back up!
Arena
You spawn in the center, and can sprint jump to the other 4. You need some building supplies to make a bridge over t the netherrack cliffs.
Movement type
The main boss can dive underneath the lava he's sitting in, and swim around to each of the different spots he comes up in. His two tentacles d the same thing. Here's a diagram of the arena and where he can pop up and where his tentacles can: (blue is the tentacles, and green is the big guy)
Method of attack
This beast will have a variety of attacks so watch out!
1. He can use his tentacles as hammers and try to pound you into the ground that will destroy any block that isn't netherrack or netherbrick. (2 hearts)
2. He can use his tentacles to shoot fire balls at you that will set you or the ground on fire. The fire rate of these are 1 every 3 seconds, and will fire anywhere from 5-10 in succession. They are also fairly slow, so they won't be too overpowered. (1 heart + fire damage)
3. He can spew fire out of his mouth that will travel in a beam of fire across the map horizontally until it hits something. A good way to avoid this is by jumping over it as it comes towards you. If you land on a higher platform from where it started spewing fire it can change the height at which the beam is travelling at. However, it won't be cheap and move directly upwards if you try jumping over it :tongue.gif: (Fire damage only)
4. He can spawn Pigmen on each of the five platforms where the glowstone is located. He can't use this too often (3 times per fight) so you won't be overwhelmed.
5. He can place lava source blocks anywhere on the map with his tentacles.
6. Once he has lost both of his tentacles, he will be able to ram with his horns into you. This is hard to avoid and deals lots of damage, but it leaves him tired and will be very vulnerable to attacks afterward. (3.5 hearts)
Effects on landscape
He has many fire attacks, and will set flame to the netherrack cliffs in the back. He also can place lava where ever he wishes.
Vulnerabilities/defeating
At the beginning, the boss is invincible. He will be invincible until you defeat both of the tentacles. Afterwards, he will become nauseated from trying to ram you too much and will crash into one of the netherack ledges in the back. This is when you go up with your sword and deal some damage. He is invulnerable to ranged attacks unlike his tentacles, so using a sword is necessary. 4 hits from a diamond sword will kill him.
Death/death animation
After being killed, he will turn into a lava like mush, and all of the lava (including the boss) will slowly disintegrate. The screen will fade to black, then back up. You will be in front of the portal that sent you there.
Drops
After killing him and teleporting back to the real Nether, you will have a ****-ton of experience, and there will be a chest waiting for you outside the portal. Inside that chest are 2 Demon Horns, that glow a very bright red. In a crafting menu, using two (nether wood) sticks with 1 Demon Horn on top will provide you with this:
The Demon's Scythe. It has double the durability of any diamond tool, and is effective as a sword, a hatchet, a pickaxe, a hoe, and a shovel. Therefore, giving it the ability to be used as a jack-of-all-trades item.
I hope you guys like this idea, as it took awhile to put this together!

It rewards you with a scythe that's better than diamond and breaks everything? No. The reward has to be an item used to access the end and the only other thing is XP.
Placing lava sources won't work well, maybe magma bombs that create flowing lava? Don't make the pigmen attack rare and weak, they're REALLY easy to kill, like zombies. I want a group of pigmen on the middle island, one is weak.
A creative idea! Most dimensions are just boring, and thinking of them makes me say, meh. If the dimensions had specific mobs, materials, bosses, treasures then that would amaze players. Some people might even make towns there on SMP servers. Anyways, good idea!

Ok, how about it does the same thing but is slightly weaker than diamond?
The flowing lava thing is kind of what I meant. Sorry for the confusion.
And how about we get 8 pigmen to spawn at once. 1 for each little island, and get 4 on the middle one.

I still don't think the reward should be a genaric multi-use tool, maybe a fire sword with the durability of diamond? The pigmen attack could be 2 on each small island, 4 on the middle one.

The pigmen spawns would be good like that...
A Demon Sword that would light enemies on fire? Sounds good.
Perhaps the Skylands should have some sort of weather-changing mechanic? They could be crafted from water buckets, lightning bolts, some sort of wind item, and other various odds and ends. Maybe a wind item could cause new weather conditions like sandstorms and snowstorms? Because watering your crops by controlling the weather itself would be pure win.

Yeah, that would be cool, it would also add some back story to it.
The Hadean
Hadean Is the name of the period of time when the earths water was thought to have first formed, Or something like that.
so idk, Just an idea.

Not bad, nice and solid, er, I mean liquid.

Repair with blaze rods, but the fire thing doesn't come back when repaired, perhaps?
I also really like the new header banner thingy.
I like it! It's all green and stuff! :tongue.gif:
Let me guess, you smeared green dye all over it. Regardless, the new new title looks great.
