Ugh, stupid forums. I realize that "with mythical powers" implies that I believe it has such things in real life. What I meant is that is often portrayed in ancient myth as having magic powers.

Same as cowboy for the questions, and these were just a few I was adding to balance the ores in each dimension.
Maybe after you beat the dimension's boss, the ores in that dimension become available in the overworld???
Using crystals as wood... seems like they'd shatter if you swung a tool with a shaft made of crystal that you can (and have to, if it is going to be woodlike) break with your hands. I'm thinking that you need to mix 'crystal powder" obtained from the crystals(no, not a drug) with soulsand to make it stick together, which then acts like wood planks.
Also, the crystals should grow out, like grass. Plant some crystal dust in the ground, and it will eventually solidify into a solid block, which then grows more crystal shards, which turn into crystal blocks, etc etc
Also, soul sand would have to be renewable for this...
Have an idea for mining crystal...a Harvester!
crafted with titanium rods and a rendareum* shard on top
a rubber pipe in the middle
and a chest on the bottom
sprite might have something like a small 4-prong grabber with a hole in the palm that connects with a small chest, this would be the only way to mine crystals, would break like glass any other way.
what if in the water dimension are the sponges, and they suck up water so that you can spawn under water, but you would have too make them generate close enough to the portal. This could also be a way of early exploration as you would have to swim too each one until you can get something that makes it so you can survive underwater for extended periods of time. It would be cool if the water dimension was completely submerged.

How do mbos work underwater? If the mobs are fish things i assume they cant leave the water into your air bubble. Would creepers still spawn underwater in the air bubble?

a special mob, the lung fish. it would be a player sized fish that attacks you like a zombie.it would breathe both water and air. and probably creepers wouldn't work for underwater areas.
I reckon a good name for a water dimension would be 'Aquaria'.Because I don't even why anyone would suggest 'Kyther'.We have enough 'ers'-Neth-ER , Aeth-ER etc.

I used to be chocolate cake.. but then new Minecraft Forums happened..
something else along with the sponge and lungfish idea would be, maybe the boss, a kraken, and it would probably be the boss. (just so you know what I mean.)
I read a book series last year that had to do with fabricated creatures like krakens. I know that would be awesome.(sorta) Off-topic: If a squid is hit by lightning, it turns into a kraken, perhaps? Like a mini one, not full size. Pretty much a deformed, slightly larger, hostile squid.
and it would be cool if there was something that made you breath for a longer time but you would still have too refill it with air, so while you're fighting you have too worry about swimming too sponges (an idea I post here earlier) to refill.
EDIT: mini krakens would possibly also be mobs in there and it would be out of the boss dimension.
( dang it I have to wait an hour until I can post again :laugh.gif: ) nix that, more than an hour, I'll come back in a day or two.
Okay so I've been putting some thought into the jungle for The Deep. And this is what I've come up with.
Terrain
Beaches: These are circular depressions in the ground with a diameter ranging in size from 20 blocks to 70 blocks. They slope gently down from the jungle and end in a pool of water surrounded by sand. Palm trees, Crabs, Seabirds and Treasure chests can be found on the shore. Caves generate occasionally in the slope, leading to the oceans. The pools also lead to the ocean.
Waterfalls: These start at mountains that generate on the crust. They can be anything from 5 blocks wide to 20. They flow from pools or rivers on top of the mountains and flow into pools or rivers at the bottom. The stone near waterfalls is slippery, about half as slippery as ice. Behind the waterfalls cave generate, leading down to the ocean or just finishing in dead ends.
Mountains: These generate on the crust. They are similar to overworld mountains but with less impossible overhangs. They generate in clumps of 2 or 3, not as manny as mountain biomes in the overworld. They are pockmarked with caves that either lead to the ocean, each other or a dead end. No big trees grow on these, only little ones.
Rivers: Similar to overworld rivers but longer, wider and flowing. They also generate more frequently. The water moves fast enough to push a player sitting in a boat 3 blocks per second. The player can swim against these but only a a rate of 1/2 a block per second. There are many animals in these rivers. They finish in little waterfalls to the ocean.
Cliffs: Similar to Beaches but with sheer cliffs and no sand. The cliffs have a few caves in them that either lead to each other, the ocean or a dead end.
Plants
Palm Trees: These are found on the shores of beaches, they are about the same hight as normal trees, but with sloping trunks and fewer leaves. The leaves one these trees are arranged in the normal palm tree fashion. Coconuts can be found on these trees and knocked of by being punched.
Giant Trees: Similar to the overworlds jungle trees, but much much bigger. The biggest of the can grow up to 50 blocks heigh and have 6x6 thick trunks.
Fruit Trees: These look like smaller versions of the giant trees, with coloured blocks hanging of them. These can be punched and harvested. The fruit will grow back after 1 minecraft day. The different types of fruit tree are: Banana, Mango, Dragonfruit and Guava. Each of these fruits heals 1 chicken leg.
Fruit Plants These are other types of plants that grow fruit that aren't trees. The different types of these are: Cocoa Bean Plants, Pineapple Plants and Passionfruit Vines.
Animals
Birds of Paradise These are colourful birds that fly around in the jungle. They range in size from 1/4 of a block to 1 1/4 of a block and drop coloured feather when killed. These can be used for decorative purposes (I don't know how, maybe coloured arrows :tongue.gif:).
Crabs: These are found on the shores of beaches and are about the size of a half block. They are passive, but will deal half a hearts damage when walked into. They drop crab meat which can be cooked and eaten for 1.5 chicken legs.
Seabirds: These are found on the shores of beaches and in the water. The fly around and serve no purpose other then aesthetics. They drop feathers when killed.
Pirañas: These are found in rivers. They are hostile fish that deal 1 hearts damage with each bite. They drop raw fish when killed.
Note: I've left monkey out, since they are certain to be in the overworld)
Misc
Treasure Chests: Occasionally found washed up on shore. It's just a chest on a beac basically. In these chests are bits of diving equipment, underwater minerals, some bubble blocks, some glow goo and maybe one or two rare items.
Also jellomob, that root ideas not bad. But I'm not quite sure how it fits in with the nether, could you explain that please. (note, I've definitely been ninja'd since I started writing this about half an hour ago, I distracted and left for a bit but kept this open. So if my question has already been answered, sorry.)
Any feedback is appreciated.

Probably tropical themed. That's what I had in mind when I first thought of the idea of a "Crust" in the WD
My apologies, the forum is acting weird for me.
Trees will obviously never work, but what about something else?
Roots! Randomly generating roots!
All we have to do is make the wood all nether looking and BOOM! Wood in the nether.
Problem solved.
A page or so back I explained these things to snowhusky, I think it was 76 or something...

So lung fish can come out of water and crawl on land/in air bubbles?
probably with other abilities too, but you wouldn't ever want to feel too safe do you?

Edit: Doesn't look very good now that I take a good look at it but you get the idea.
That's pretty cool actually, needs a little tweaking, but the general idea is there.
And maybe we should have a separate "overworld" portal like in the "Portals +" mod
