We already have a unique idea for the water dimension. I highly doubt someone has ever come up with a WD that has a crust surrounding a massive global ocean before.
Coming up with something unique for the Sky dimension shouldn't be that hard.
I admit i've never read that crust part in ANY water dimension suggestion, the rest though i've heard before...
and i would LOVE to see a sky dimension suggestion that i haven't already read
Meh, the idea of any mob being able to break blocks (without explosions of course ) seems kind of OP.
It's not a lot of crazy Creeper-like block destruction. Just like an average of 2 Netherrack blocks or so for the dramatic effect.
We do need lava dwelling mobs, though a whale may not fit very well.
Goodness old chap, they're not whales! They're 5 feet long lava monsters that superficially resemble squooshed down whales. Eh...sorry about that :tongue.gif:
Blocks:
Interesting concept, might be better in a different dimension though.
Well I thought, that in the Overworld you had your good share of everything that could hurt/burn you (Like cacti, lava, etc.) so I figured in a place where everything is out to get you, have a little beneficial block.
A lot of people are opposed to having trees in the nether, including myself. They just don't seem to fit no matter how you put them
Fair enough. Still, I'd like to see some sort of evil, chaotically behaving plant in the Nether. Doing all sorts of random, weird things that would make it appear to have a mind of its own. Like the Harrada Root from Oblivion, but a lot more chaotic.
We might have a valuable gem for each "Main dimension", In which case, The Nether would end up getting ruby.
Probably not for tools though
That would probably be a separate idea in itself, looking for uses for gems, gold, and all that regal fashionable stuff...

Check out Boats Evolved; the fancy huge customizable boats Notch tweeted about brought to life!
I just want to make sure I understand this thread: Is the point to get a consensus and have it planned out how the community would like the dimensions done, and try to get Jeb to look at it and implement it OR is it for someone to make a mod for it?

This is probably going to be turned into a mod, and Jeb probably doesn`t even consider adding so many dimensions. But it seems like nobody on this thread really seems to know advanced java, which is a problem. Jellomob can probably tell you more if there is something I missed.

Ok. Thanks for the reply. It'll be an awesome mod. Jeb is more community minded than notch, though and has already implemented things the community asked for and I know lots of people have been waiting for a sky dimension since it was changed to the boring old end. So I will at least tweet/email it to him and get all my friends to.
I think the skylands shouldn't have the same terrain shape as the Aether. Instead, it would have rather small floating islands, occupying about 3x3 chunks. These could go really far upwards, though, kind of like a spiral, though it doesn't have to be a real spiral. this would make for a lot of dark spaces for mob spawning

If Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter were all destroyed, 90% of teens would go insane. If you're one of the 10% that would be laughing at them, copy this into your signature and hope it happens.
What is rendareum? I don't think the overworld should have any new content, it has a lot already. Others seem decent, but there is too many. A few ores in the Nether, a few in the skylands, and a few in the WD would be fine
Also, as to all of the posts recently on whirlpools and beds in the sky, I'm pretty sure that all main dimensions, and most side dimensions, will be accessed via portal, and the portals won't be as easy to craft as a bed. The WD portal is made out of phosphorus, according to several people, and the skylands portal is not yet decided, but will still be a dynamic, normal, portal, the same shape as a Nether portal. there may eventually be a few side dimensions accessed by other means, but they won't be as easy to make as a bed.
Rendareum is basically corundum, when you craft it with some other over world material, like lapis, it would give you sapphire, this idea isn't the greatest, but I'm trying to balance the ores in each dimension
I tried making a model of the water dimension in vanilla minecraft (which I think should be called the Kyther but whatever), and I noticed that even with Glowstone everywhere, it's really really dark under the water. The bio luminescent mobs in the sunlit zone and twilight zone should give off like a light level of 20 or something, or have some special glowing coral that gives off a huge light level, but can only stay alive if surrounded by water. Either that or the W.D. could have some special kind of water that doesn't block out as much light. Or as another suggestion, we could have special equipment that would allow one to see underwater better.
Tl;dr:
Water makes everything too dark, and some adjustments need to be made so people can see underwater there.
To answer, I'm just going to explain what has to be explained as to save room/time...
Sulfur-replaces sand in TNT and could be used for an acidic potion (not poison)
Magnesium- could be used for underwater torches/quick furnace material
Neon-bright gas used to illuminate signs and provide almost "sun" quality brightness
Basalt- idea for use-Tips of spears? Hell Stone-replacing with Mercury, used to make heating units to allow survival in Deep Kyther and the Aether (both are freezing)
Red Steel-used in Magma Armor(heat proof) possibly new tools, made from normal iron with Hell's Flame???
Petroleum- liqiud rubber???
Titanium-have to defend this one, so many uses: Stronger furnace, better tools/armor, used for an engine(More efficient at moving mine carts), nails(attaching mine carts, copper wire junctions, and other blocks(like glue)),Submarine???, generator
Copper-more efficient than redstone, can have blocks placed directly on top of it, separate wires don't instantly connect when next to each other, and can be run underwater, also used for a generator
Fossils-kind of, give unique bones like T. Rex skull, leg, etc. and for a few different dinosaurs, these bones can be built into a statue of the dinosaur(placing blocks accordingly) and with the help of a Resurrection Table* can be brought back to life???
:-( ):: :Sap:: :Water::
:obsidian:: :Diamond:: :obsidian::
:opblock:: :opblock:: :
Ruby* Emerald* Sapphire*
<-Basalt-> or end brick???
Aquamarine-red steel counter part Water proof Armor, possibly new tools, made from lapis with permafrost???
Silicon-used in sensors, sonar, and chips Nanites??? Microscope???
Holite- red steel counter part freeze proof armor, possibly new tools, made from gold with Electure
Astron*- rare meteor stones that are different colors, each color corresponds with a planet,red for an example is mars, when broken under a microscope makes 9 micro pieces, used with 8 silicon micro pieces to make a chip, the chip is put in a possessor(made with titanium and previously uranium) and put next to a titanium portal frame, then you start it with plasma???and it takes you to that planet???
Emerald-same as ruby
Electure- block that releases an electric charge into the blocks around it, used as a weak generator, found in thunder clouds
Purine- almost the rarest ore in game!!! a greenish liquid that restores your health while in it, turns hostile mobs to neutral, and when you throw a piece of diamond*(all ores work) into it, after a few days, the ground around it has had the ore grown into it, only appears in miniscule deposits and only under the boss portal and the vicinity
Olympiar- only block that can be pushed, and placed in the air, it also moves all blocks that are placed on top of it. It only drifts 5-10 squares though when pushed though.
Platinum- the rarest/strongest ore in the game!!! Makes practically invincible armor and tools and when put in a block, is weather, blast, and disaster proof.

yes, water in the WD is going to make things dark either based on altitude, or 10 blocks of water = 1 light level. Also, light level 20 doesn't exist, only level 15, like sunlight or glowstone.
To answer, I'm just going to explain what has to be explained as to save room/time...
Sulfur-replaces sand in TNT and could be used for an acidic potion (not poison)you mean gunpowder?
Magnesium- could be used for underwater torches/quick furnace material
Neon-bright gas used to illuminate signs and provide almost "sun" quality brightness
Basalt- idea for use-Tips of spears? Hell Stone-replacing with Mercury, used to make heating units to allow survival in Deep Kyther and the Aether (both are freezing)Sorry, but that would make the Nether a requirement to go to before the other two, which we don't want. We want to be able to go to any dimension without outside materials and survive and thrive there
Red Steel-used in Magma Armor(heat proof) possibly new tools, made from normal iron with Hell's Flame???It shoudln't need overworld iron for an item only useful in the Nether

keep in mind, I'm not against red steel and its counterparts, but they shouldn't need overworld materials for something only useful in 1 dimension
Also, each dimension having its own gem seems nice to me. Overworld has diamond (if you need a different one use emerald), Nether has ruby, skylands has opal, and WD has sapphire, and The End, of course, has onyx.
If Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter were all destroyed, 90% of teens would go insane. If you're one of the 10% that would be laughing at them, copy this into your signature and hope it happens.
Appearance: The screamer is 3 1/2 blocks high. From the waist down shape wise it looks just like the player only a pinkish skin with bones visible and a deep purpleish liquid running down the body. But the moment you go above the waist it changes a lot. For starters it has 4 arms, 2 on each side, the lower ones pointing down at a 45 degree angle and the higher ones pointing up at a 45 degree angle, the arms are textured just like the legs. Then there's the head, its bigger then a players head and shaped like a stereotype alien head but, the top half of the skin and skull have been removed showing only the brain.
How to reach: You reach this boss by activating a portal inside a room in a nether fortress. The portal room would look like this. http://imgur.com/J173v,UHFUN The portal itself would be made out of a medium rare nether material (not steak :tongue.gif:) and would look like this. http://imgur.com/J173v,UHFUN#1. To activate the portal you would have to place the portal block in the gaps, completing the portal.
Where is the boss found? How does the fight initiate? E.g. End Portal: The boss is found in it's own dimension, The Land of Screams. The fight is initiated the moment you enter the Land of Scream (LoS)
Arena: The Land of Screams (LoS)
What does the area you fight the boss in look like? What parts of the environment could you or the boss use to your advantages? E.g. The End. It would look similar to the nether only no lava lakes, lit entirely by lightstone, no mobs except the screamer, roughly spherical and about 60x60x60 in size.
Movement type: The screamer moves on the ground. But it can climb walls and hang from ceilings. When on the ground it walks on its legs, but when on the walls and roof it uses only its arms.
Method of attack: When the screamer sees the player, it will emit a terrifying scream, it's brain will start swelling, getting bigger and smaller like a breathing lung. It will then run at the player at a speed equivalent to 1.5 times sprinting speed. As it runs towards you, it's hands will catch fire and it will start to throw fireballs at you. These deal 2 hearts damage and have a 30% chance of setting the player on fire. When the screamer reaches you, it will start trying to punch you with all of it's arms. If one of these punches connects, the player will be dealt 3.5 hearts of damage and get knocked back 3-5 blocks.
Effects on landscape: The screamer has no major effects on the landscape, all it does is set the netherack on fire when it shoots it's fireballs.
Vulnerabilities/defeating
After the screamer has charged and swung at you, it will stumble in a random direction, while this is happening, it is at it's most vulnerable. If the player hits it's brain it will deal double damage and slow down it's charge to a little bit faster then walking speed.
Death/death animation
When the screamer dies, it will look up at the ceiling, start waving it's arms about and scream even louder. Then it's body parts will begin to shake, and finally the entire thing will explode into flames.
Drops
The screamer drops 3 items. 5-10 screamerskin which can be used to craft screamer gloves, which when held, allow the player to climb vertical walls, 2-4 screamerface, which can be crafted with a jack-o-lantern and placed as a scarecrow that repels all mobs except bosses for a 10x10 square around it. The final drop is a scream orb, which when placed in the crafting grid with 2 magma cores will create a nether core which is an element for a nether pearl. During this process, the scream orb is NOT consumed.
I'll put up another crafting concept involving the nether core tomorrow. Right now I can't be arsed. It's 2:50 am in aus and I'm goin to sleep soon, so I'll do a concept later.
Thoughts?
Cucumber
Okay, So I've got the crafting concepts I mentioned at the end of that post. The one to create the nether core is this. Note, for this picture the magma cream is magma core and the ender pearls is the scream orb. http://imgur.com/vvurp,qW4PV This creates a nether core, which you then place in the crafting grid like this. Note, for this picture the magma cream is still magma cores, but the ender pearl is just an enderpearl. http://imgur.com/vvurp,qW4PV#1.
Any thoughts on either the boss or the crafting concept?

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
I have a lot of Ideas too hard to put in a thread, maybe a youtube video? Maybe soon. But I feel since all the dimensions are opposites, (Nether=Fire The Deep [my choice] =Water Skylands=skyworld End=underworld.) Since opposite, they should have opposite usefulness. So, In the nether you can get Glowstone, in the deep you can get Glow torches and other things like it, So each dimension has a light source that is obtainable, each dimension has a Useful item, like potions, and each dimension has terrain to it like netherack. I also think, Each world has a main and two sides? I think you should go to the main, and it is an infinitley randomly generated world. Then in the world is resources to get to 2 side quests where NPC's of that world can help you complete a quest and they give you an Item. Also the boss will give you an item. I think that makes 3 items (I think magic gem stone things would be cool, and the npc's give you 2 and the boss drops one) With Skylands, Nether, Water, and Overworld, that makes 12 gem stones. With those 12 gem stones, you get all the pieces of a stronghold portal.
Specific dimensions:
Nether = Inhabited Fortress
Water = Abondoned Ruins like Atlantis (Super mario sunshine place)
Overworld = Strongholds
Skylands = Floating castles
End (Dimension not boss) = Underground castles
Also in the End, I think you should go to an underground castle, under a floating island, to get a item, then you have to move up in the end (to the sky limit) Using that object somehow? (Beat a boss to get it, weakening you in the end making boss difficult) Then once at sky limit defeat Dragon once reached the Big MAIN island of the Enderdragon.
Maybe the Skylands could be like the Aether mod? 3 bosses = 3 stones = 1 side of the end portal.
Water = Mermaid? Fish-NPC hybrids?
Nether = Golems
Skylands = Rebellious Valkyries that go against the silver boss, (One of the quests for the side world) (Silver and Bronze aether dungeons are side quests gold is boss)
Overworld = Village NPC's
End = Rebellious endermen against ENDERDRAGON possesed endermen. (Which are one of the side quests of the end)
All these Ideas make the game kind of story based but you can build your own world in each dimension, and pick the dimensional order. The diagram says ANY place once defeating the boss, goes to the end.
EXTRA IDEAS:
Maybe start off in a random dimension? Make ALL dimensions livable with ores and such.
Jungle biomes in 1.2 the top of the water dimension?
Only able to get to dimension using other dimension pieces, or a rift of some kind?
Start in Nether, Find portal, go to nether, get something in nether to take to overworld and make portal to the Water dimension.
1 more thing:
The end portal is very unique, all other portals in mods looked like the Nether portal. I think all of the dimensions should have a unique way of reaching them.
