why? fine change quez to a griffin or harpy or phoniex both are flying creatures but like i said why does it need to be consistent having monster from diferant mytholgy add more variety

They must be different and original, and for the sea boss, I recently fought Tentalus in Skyward Sword, it was an awesome medusa squid of dectruction. We need to think of a boss that looks unnatural, and like no living or mythical thing in existence(dead is fine :cool.gif: ).
No, I disagree completely! I think that new metals are a must, but I am suggesting being more creative with them.
Hm, like Jellomob said it is better in text than it would be in execution. Before jumping to recently harnessed metals like titanium, we should add basic mechanical power, cannons, more advanced weaponry, more forms of transportation, among many others. It would be much simpler to add something mythical with no restrictions like adamant, or maybe something completely unique to Minecraft. You could do anything with it, it would be more interesting, more creative, more unique to Minecraft, and much easier to work with. In my opinion its just a better plan of action.
You did bring up an idea I had been thinking about, however. After boss fights, we could add more content to the overworld. For example, we could add a new metal with a unique use after each boss. The generation code would replace groups of blocks with an ID of 1 with blocks of the new metal ore. It shouldn't be too difficult. There could also be new mobs added for new challenges on the overworld. This is one of the reasons I think some resources should be necessary to get from the overworld. If this is the case then the player has to keep coming back to a world that gets increasingly more challenging. I think it would work out nicely.
I like this idea! Except maybe it generates the new ores+mobs in all of the dimensions? Or just the dimension where you beat the boss? We want all of the main dimensions to be similar in content level, which will be difficult due to the large amount of content in the overworld already.

no no, it's fine if they're ALL different. I'm saying the METHOD has to be consistent. Either have, say, all greek, or have ONE be greek and ONE be aztec and ONE be, idk, norse or something. Just don't have them slapdash whatever you think of first.
It looks schizophrenic and unprofessional, and is just generally poor game design.

Honestly anubis wasn't much of a fighter - he was just a judge, and the guy who made sure embalmings were a-ok.
And Quetzalcoatl was a nice guy - the god of the sun, fertility, and all kinds of benevolent stuff. Not really sure why you'd fight him.
Personally, I think that the bosses should be unique inventions, not found in other mythologies
Yes, they should be unique to minecraft, as much as possible at least.
EDIT: using the mechanics of minecraft to fight the boss would fit rather well, for instance, having to "mine" the legs of a golem with a pick, and making him fall down or something of that sort.
It would definitely be interesting. You would have to get close enough to mine, while at the same time keeping in mind how fast you can mine his blocks, so you can make an effective strategy of going in, mining x amount of blocks, and retreating from his attacks..
Actually, that's a brilliant idea! I think we may have the overworld boss on our hands! It takes the traditional mining mechanic of the overworld to heart, and makes for an interesting and minecraft unique boss!
A boss called 'the unnatural orb'. He can spawn ghostly spheres (mobs that are basic crosses between lightning and auroras, in the form of a white ball), and can transform his dimension within a 40 block radius of himself into a copy of any of the other dimensions (end not included). He can also spawn random 'spikes' on himself that drain one of your hearts into him. His only weakness is that if one of his spikes is destroyed before it sinks back into him it gives your heart back plus wipes out all his curently summoned minions, and the damage done to him is equal to one half heart plus one heart for every ten of his minions that are destroyed. The boss drops 10 buckets full of transport fluid, which, when poured on any block, will transport you to the dimension the block is most commonly found.
I like this idea! Except maybe it generates the new ores+mobs in all of the dimensions? Or just the dimension where you beat the boss? We want all of the main dimensions to be similar in content level, which will be difficult due to the large amount of content in the overworld already.
Yea, that's an idea. Maybe the ore could be generated in all dimensions.
Just throwing this out there. I had an idea that cave paintings might generate in caves, showing things like men killing pigs and dungeons and maybe even things like strongholds before they were dilapidated. It could add interest and intrigue to the world, as well as showing clues about how to get to dimensions. I was thinking pictures of portals and the Nether or the Aether could be found rarely in deep caves, perhaps with some caves be covered completely in a panorama of the dimension. Another thing I thought of (don't worry this connects in with dimensions) is wolf armor. Blah, blah, blah, you've heard it a million times before. What I was thinking was a hellhound sort of enemy could be added to the Nether, and in nether forts they could be wearing armor of some unique Nether resource that cannot be worn without burning the wearer (it could be worn by the player in conjunction with fire resistance potions), as well as pigmen with armor of the same material. Now in these cave paintings, it could show the armored wolves sitting next to a portal, or something along those lines, just as a little hint of what is coming later. I also suggest having paintings, like those in ancient Egyptian constructs, lining the walls of Nether forts. It might hint at what they were used for, showing a king in regal but demonic armor sitting on a throne with lines of hellhounds in armor at his side.
This brings me to another idea. There could be some sort of once-in-a-map structure which is the ancient Nether king's fortress, which would be more designed as an actual fortress. It would be similar or identical to the castle in the paintings, although the throne would be empty (or not...). This would be a good place to put the boss portal, in my opinion.
Sorry for the rant more ideas popped up as I went along. :laugh.gif:

I thin the boss should be blase based, since blases are the nether fort exclusive mob. I already have the whole boss thought out.
I have quite a few Ideas that have to do with these dimension bosses.
First of all, to access the Nether, you obviously need to make a nether portal.
I think that an overworld boss could spawn right when you light the nether portal. It will spawn a few blocks away. I don't know what it would be, maybe a ghast, or some sort of portal gatekeeper, but you have to fight him, because you would get an error if you tried to go to the nether saying "must fight boss" or something.
Actually, maybe when you make the portal, you can't light it until you fight the boss. I don't know exactly what this boss could be, but as I mentioned, it could just be an uncommon nether mob (magma cubes, blazes), or maybe a "head pig zombie" that has full clothing and doesn't look as zombie-ish.
Idk
Moving on.
The nether boss should be fairly easy. It should be another special pig zombie (or another nether mob) riding a ghast. this ghast looks different from the others (maybe a black ghast? A scarred ghast?) and the nether mob will control the ghast and tell it when to fire aomethnd stuff like that.
Fighting this will give you access to the water dimension. It will drop a medallion or something of the sort that lets you create a special portal. maybe the medallion lets you mine ice and you could create an ice portal, with a water bucket inside (yes that sounds like a rip off to the aether but still! what else goes inside a portal of ice?)
The water dimension is tricky. Maybe you need to create some sort of special gear that lets you see underwater and breathe underwater. you spawn on an island made 100% of sand (or maybe a special sand like material) with no tree on it or anything. It will be vastly populated with squids. maybe sharks too if they make those. The boss could be maybe some sort of gigantic squid. It could cause waves in the water, and it would trap you and ink you, which would black the screen out for a while. It drops another medallion, but also a "water tear". This is used to craft sky dimension blocks with glowstone, and it crafts infinite sky dimension blocks. Actually i take that back. Maybe it only has like 20 uses so you make a portal but may have some extra.
The sky dimension should have golden leaves for trees, only a few mobs, most peaceful, and should not be aether like. The boss could be some sort of cloud monster or a zues-like boss that shoots lightning at you. Killing it would be a challenge, but I think that maybe you can deflect the lightning blasts only with your sword, and he might double-counter (sort of like a zelda situation where you play ping pong with ganon) or you could hit him with arrows. Killing him will give you 16 "items" that combined with another item give you instead of ender eyes something else to put in end portals. Ender eyes would still have a use though; they would lead you to the stronghold, you just wouldn't put them in the portal itself.
Oh, and sorry I didn't read the OP when I wrote above. I read more about the water dimension, and consider some of my ideas, and disregard some.

I do think that most people on this thread has already settled that dimensions shouldn`t be tiered, and that the W.D. should have some kind of crust where you can punch down trees to get wood.`
Don`t forget that some of the plans for this thread is that you should be able to start of in whichever dimension you would like to, and that you should actually be able to survive there as well.

Hello World of Minecraftia!
Nothing is set in stone. We can hear everybody's ideas and decide from there, or make a compromise.
In any case, I always thought of blazes as more of sentinels as opposed to the ruins inhabitants. We should add more Nether fort exclusive mobs.
