A few pages back, a user by the name of BennXYZ posted this, and I really like the concept behind it.
Ghastinator
Appearance
It's body is made of Netherrack. He got 2 floating arms, with long firecolored swords. His head looks like a mini-ghast and his underbody is some sort of firepillar
How to reach
Inside of a Netherdungeon, there's a Portal with the same shape of a Netherportal.
However, it isn't made of obsidian but of Netherrack-like Block which can't be breaked.
at this portal, there are holes similar to the Endportal. you'll have to fill these holes with ghast-tears (or something like that) to activate the portal.
Arena
Idea 1: The Arena is a big cavelike room made of Netherrack. there are flames at some point and Lava coming out of the ceeling (which are the only naturall lightsource in there) and some sort of small mountain in the middle of the room. And at the top of that mountain await's you the Boss.
Above the ceeling and below the ground is lava.
Maybe we could add about 4 End-like pillars?
Movement type
It is floating near the ground.
Method of attack
Attack 1: It shoots fireballs at you.
Attack 2: It float's towards you and attacks with its sword.
Effects on landscape
There's lava appearing whereever the boss is also where it shoots its fireballs at.
The fireballs will destroy the ground which will create holes where you can fall into lava.
also, it sometimes shots fireballs at the ceeling, to make holes so there is more lava coming down.
Vulnerabilities/defeating
You'll have to shoot it's fireballs back to hurt it. Sword-attacks does hurt it too but just minimal.
Fire doesn't hurt it (of course)
Death/death animation
It starts to burn and move very fast and is screaming (like Ghasts. Just more extrem). while Burning, it changes it's texture into black (like burned wood) falls down and exploades.
Drops
there are several drops.
1. it will left back it's still burning head (block (similar to the dragon-egg)) which can be obtained by using a diamond-pickaxe. It will be called "Endless Flame"
It glows and will burn stuff. you'll need this item to get to the End.
droprate: 100%
2. Nether-Boat. With this, you can slide through lava (like an waterboat)
3. Blaze-Sword. whatever you left click will start to burn. also if you rightclick, you'll shoot an Fireball.
4. Nether-Armor. While wearing this, you can walk through flames and swim through lava without being hurt or starting to burn.
5. Flame-Boots. Jesus walked over water. With these you can walk over lava!
You would have to bounce back his fireballs in the same way you would a ghast's to damage him, it seemed like a perfect fit to me.
I could use some tweaking, but I put my money on this being the nether boss.

I like it, but the white head contrasts badly with the dark red body...
How about a dream dimension? Like, when you go to sleep your in creative mode for a positive side and you stay in the dimension for as long as you want or there's like a 8 minute time period or something and like a a nether parkour type thing were you have to escape giant pack of creepers or something and you have to get to a portal at the end and if you don't you wake up with 1/2 heart or something.Just throwing out ideas.
Stone? It should be something unique. The Nether wasn't made out of stone, neither should this be. Stone, or an equivalent that looks different but crafts the same things, could be found at the crust.

Minecraft makes me feel like I'm three. Playing with blocks and afraid of the dark.

the problem with that, would be that we would need to code all of the alternatives for items that would normally be made with stone.
We could have stone be a crust and upper ocean only block, then have a unique block for the rest of the dimension.
Wanna add my 2 cents, but by the gods I am not reading 51 straight pages of this. Is the OP a sufficient tl;dr, or must I really wade through this entire thread in order to comment without sounding like an ass?

Simple solution - give the water dimension its own unique block, but make it drop regular old cobble unless mined with silk touch, same as End Stone. Barely any coding needed at all.
BTW, if the ocean dimension has a solid crust over the ocean, how does light get in there?

It's not solid, as explained in the OP, it has massive holes that lead to the ocean below.
I actually have started making a model for the crust, so I am glad you brought that up.
The holes will probably be even bigger than this, and more varied in shape in the actual terrain, but I chose a nice clean circle to keep things simple.
This is the general slope going from the ocean, to the crust. Notice the gap between the ocean and the crust. ATM it is 8 blocks in height,
Not sure if I should increase it, since we are on a tight 256 block budget, and 1 layer is already reserved for the bedrock layer, so it's more like 255.

The OP is mostly up to date, Though I really should get to updating it more. The last major update was more of a framework update, so future in formation could be added properly.
I will start adding content from this thread gradually, a few updates at a time so I don't miss anything.
Wow this has come a long way since I looked at it last. I especially like how you tried to describe the different kinds of portals and re-structure the different realms - it actually follows logical sense and is quite cool. Great work! :smile.gif:
For the Ender dimension, there should be a biome that's mainly composed of thin bridges, possibly with some sections known to collapse. It should also be much bigger, if not infinite. :tongue.gif:
Oh yes indeed, we will make The End a full dimension, infinitely expanding and all! :smile.gif:

It has come a long way hasn't it? :smile.gif:
But this is still just the beginning! Wait until we have the "Daughter" threads up and running, by then we should have a lot more content.
No, you did, I got 1001.
I posted at 999, you got the thousandth post, anyway, leet post is leet.
Let's get back on topic

I think 256 will be fine.
You stole it from me! Leave for a hour and come back to see that. Sorry I had to do it, no bump intentional.
Made a click-able version of your sig CAN_Archer,

Curse PremiumYou just make the stone craft the same item, not alternatives. Its up to you, though, just throwing things out there.
Edit: Broke the quotes somehow...
