the problem i have with the water dimension is that you can't see to begin with after you're three blocks below water you can't see jack, second it would mean that you would have to put in a LOT of new physics, and finally water isn't a big part of mincraft, just for squids.
A suggestion for the generic water/oceanworld would be a new way to move underwater, cause currently, it isn't possible to move freely under water, so an idea would be:
Wearing an enchanted armor that allows better vertical and horizontal, or in a form of crafting a armor together with a item, dropped by the boss of another dimension.
And what about helmets, that give you air underwater or decrease the air loss.
Also, there could be weapons specialized for underwater fights, like a spear, that has a higher range and increased underwater damage compared to ground fights.

But I have been thinking about using tridents or spears as underwater weapons. We could nerf sword and bow damage while underwater to make them a reasonable add.
Not sure about new dimensions in general, but aliquam definitely sounds like a good name :smile.gif: Also, I don't think the overworld should have a boss--it would just be generic MC, then the different dimensions would have twists.

Oh don't worry, we ill have to fix a lot of things to make the WD possible, one of which is the item drop rate in water. It might have to be slowed a bit to allow players to actually get enemy drops effectively.

and i have a suggestion for a over-world boss/dimension
what is the most time consuming activity in the overworld? mining, so to reach what i shall call the "Di-Mine-tion" (see what i did there? di-men-tion to di-mine-tion)
at the bedrock level, there will be a large series of flat bedrock chunks, as opposed to the 3 layer variation. at the center of the (lets say 16) chunks, will be several single depressions in the bedrock. one of these will be the entrance, its just a matter of placing an iron block in the several holes until you find it. upon placing the block, you will be transported to the Di-mine-tion, where it will be one large linear tunnel. the tunnel will be rich with materials, but one of the blocks will be the boss of this world.
to find it, mine each ore until one tries to attack you back.

(thought it would be sorta ironic, to stop the endless cycle of mining, you had to do alot of mining, and since the overworld's sole purpose is to mine, the boss should also be about mining)
now, the boss.
Appearance
A cube of a random ore, may be iron, may be red stone.
How to reach
attempting to mine it (will only mine after the completion of the mine animation)
Arena
Movement type
walking, or hopping like a slime, at a very fast rate.
Method of attack
melee, but will occationally remove 2 blocks beneath you.
Effects on landscape
It can attach itself to similar ore veins, and then will only attack once found again. possibly could switch places with another iron ore block in that vein, possibly will heal itself?
Vulnerabilities/defeating
remove all similer ore types, that will mean it cannot escape from you to heal once it passes half heart. and it will otherwise due to its extrodinary speed
Death/death animation
on death, it will start displaying the breaking animation, and then explode as if it were a creeper. the animation should last long enough to run
Drops
the boss drop (along with its ore material) will be a "ore fragment" I thought it would be 1 out of X boss items to reach the next major dimension. like placing this ore fragment in a broken ice-block will allow you to visit the ice boss, or this ore fragment would be of a higher order, a fragment of another miner who came before, another miner, another overworld, another dimension.
or it will be placed in a shattered block by the dimension entrance to not only allow exit, but to mine (with diamond) a block to the water-world, or skylands.

the end is boring though, as it is only for killing the ender dragon... but i see your point.

That is because, currently, "The End", is a boss dimension. Boss dimensions exist solely to house bosses.
Here is an idea for an interesting side dimension.
In minecraft the world generation provides infinate travel on the X and Z co-ordinates. However it is limited in the Y co-ordinates.
Here is my idea, a world which is limited in the x and z size but is infinitely tall. For loading each section will be the size of a small classic map. To stop people jumping from the sides there will be a glowing fog which will kill players just like the void. (this is in place to stop people falling and generating excessive lag).
The map design itself will be like the corner far lands from 1.7 with a series of terrain sections stacked on top of each other with a reasonably sized air space in between each.
To get to it you would find rare sen=mi static portals floating at the top of the map height.
Once through you will be able to make standard portals via a stone found in that dimension.
Yeah, sounds great too. Nether materials could be used for the furnace, I think. Special ores/stone types, perhaps. Wouldn't be a bad idea. A furnace that burns for twice as long with each item, perhaps. Though it might be overpowered. Perhaps.

I really like the fish models, and the seahorse will work well for underwater transportation.
