So we've heard how mojang will be brining on a new AI specialist in december to work on the npc vilagers. Anyone else think this perons should work on wolves after vilagers? Wolfs are pretty stupid, constantly taking fall damage from running around or teleporting to a bad spot, sometimes randomly walking in to cactusus, or falling into lava! When i get wolves it seems like they dont last 10 minutes fallowing me around. My question is, do you agree?
You can't take a wolf anywhere without it dying from stupidity. Wolves constantly keep running into cacti, will teleport on top of the worst spots (ex. lava and on top of pits), and need to have certain "modes" set to them. I suggest that the wolves have three behaviors that can be given to them, Passive, Neutral and Aggressive. Passive wolves will NEVER attack anything that hurts them or you. Neutral wolves will only attack what attacks you OR anything that enters a certain marked territory. Lastly, aggressive wolves will attack every mob on sight, including other players on multiplayer servers.
Sadly, I have no idea how to fix the horrid teleporting though.

they could proably make a simple enviorment detector or something before mindlessly teleporting them to you

That might work, but hopefully this detector of sorts can detect if the surface (yes it must be a surface) is safe for the wolf to land on. If not, the wolf MUST teleport to a safer location, and cannot fall to this surface either. And wolves (and all non-Nether mobs) should show fear of being near lava (so they won't fall aimlessly in it anymore). This way a wolf will not be within a certain distance of lava and will get around it (the same applies for cacti too).
i maily use them as decoration in my house (as like a pet dog or something) instead of adventureing with them due to there stupidity. The most advanced thing they can do is advoid and not attack creepers.

Why stay content with how they are for the moment? Unlike many other things in Minecraft, wolves could actually be fixed and made better. Hopefully that new programmer Mojang's hiring will actually fix up the wolves, but that's only wishful thinking at the time being.

Other than that, I only take my new wolf pack of about 10 just to explore for fun.
I'll update this sig when I do!
