What I am suggesting is NPC single houses/hamlets to compliment the present villages. I think that npcs are too unified, and that there should be single houses(one single house with decent essentials on location)/hamlets(2-5 houses a farm or two maybe some other stuff).
These will both add to the game very well I think, here are the pros/cons:
Pro:
Adds variety to the map, npcs can live in places other than villages
Lets players play out the adventure of minecraft more, more variation to experience
Npcs will seem more like true npcs than those guys in the villages.
On multiplayer servers, might deter griefing/stealing slightly
Cons:
Might be hard to implement with the biome code
Gives players free housing if npc in single house is killed and discourages building your own place
Abandoned ruins, and houses would be nice. Like broken down old houses only half standing with no npc's to create a feel of some places having been once inhabited.
