You know, they should add gold TNT that erases idiots from time and space. Wait, that would cause a paradox, as then this thread would have never existed
Trading - No. It would make things to easy and could be easily abused.
Paying for any features in the game? Absolutely not. People didn't buy the game just so they could pay more money to actually play it.
More health? No. The health system is well balanced as it is. Is it perfectly balanced? No. But providing more base health won't fix anything, it would just create more problems.

The statement below is true.
The statement above is false.
There does need to be more blocks and items. I think that there just needs to be a few more ores and a few more tiers in equipment and armour -- in order, it would be wood, stone, copper, iron, emerald, ruby, sapphire, gold, (gold doesn't really fit right on the tier list because it has high damage but low durability) and then diamond.
There should also be minable fossils and sulphur (bones and gunpowder) and a few generic MOBs to make the game feel more RPG-ish and actually be more challenging (rats, bats, ghosts, and a few types of demons like devils and gluttons in the nether.) If we go outside at night, we should be assaulted, rather than have to go and look for MOBs unless you're on a flat biome.
A spell system would be really nice. 3 iron would create a staff, and 9 rubies would create a fire orb. You'd attach the fire orb to the staff, and bam, you can shoot fireballs. There should also be a water staff (sapphires) and a thunder staff (emerald). They would all fire projectiles like the bow, and these projectiles would arc. Of course, these staves would be enchantable like tools and equipment currently are.
A new mana system would be introduced as well. Mana would slowly recharge, (as fast as your HP recharges) and standing on a mana rune (crafted with 9 obsidian and a gold ingot in the middle) would regenerate your mana 4 times as quickly. Killing MOBs would also regenerate your mana.
What I really want, though, is a stat system. If you mine alot, you'll level in mining skill. If you shovel alot, you'll level in excavation skill. etc etc. Basically MCmmo, but in minecraft and with a GUI -- you'd see a chat message telling you that you levelled up in a skill when you levelled up. For every level, the speed you do that thing at/the amount of damage you do is increased by one tenth of what it is.
Also, I agree with the trading system. Not for SSP, but for SMP. There should be a trading GUI, where you can trade without the possibility of getting ****ed over by the other person -- its incredibly easy to do, all he has to do is not give you the item he promised. Its a system that relies on trust, but we shouldn't have to rely on such things in something so important in a videogame. :tongue.gif:
