Okay, yeah, fences are really improved. They don't take up a whole block of space. They stick the walls. But the problem I have is them 'sticking to walls'.
When making windows or panes or things of the sort, they look so beautiful! But if you're trying to just make a lamp post and then place a block next to it, that block next to it actually becomes connected. (don't mean to advertise or anything, but if you want an example of the picture AND people who agree with me, click the link and watch the video.)
My idea is that when you right click the fence, it stops connecting to things. Right click again, it connects. I don't know much that it would change of the game, and minecraft is all about creativity, so i believe if you don't want the fence to stick, it shouldn't stick.
Agreed entirely, :biggrin.gif:
I had that idea too, with a friend, but for glass panes/iron bars.
I really think they all should have it.
Or perhaps for bars, you disconnect them with shears, glass panes you could do with hands, and fences with axes, all by right clicking them.
Agreed. Lamp posts are ruined, house lamps are ruined (they connect to both walls if it's on a corner), mineshafts look horrid. They should connect only to wood. Or just right click to stop connection.
I have a solution! Dont use the fence block in the first place?
Fences are necessary for building.
And if you must avoid a game feature, it just shows how bad it is.
Agree completely! Also, considering that the fence occupies one square, and one square has eight faces, the right-click should work in each one of those fences. So you can have a suspended fence, or a stick hanging in the air, or a complex amount of fences threading for a suspended garden...
My thought on this is that fences only connect to blocks placed before the fence. So then you still could have the fence connect to the front of your house, but we don't get melons speared by fences.

You can't make metre cubed pieces of rock get jiggy with each other, that's just WRONG.
Or how about giving players the ability to craft wooden post blocks from two sticks? They look like fence posts, but don't connect to anything. Fence blocks would be able to automatically connect to post blocks, but posts won't connect to anything on their own.

it wouldn't be right. it's so much easier if you can just right click it. Besides, I'm sure a lot of people are annoyed by this feature too. but i like the shears/hands/axe right clicking to disconnect different things. Thanks, Pingytalk.
Coolio678, that'd work really good too.
4Koen, what about my house made of wood? :smile.gif:
bump. are you allowed to bump suggestions too? :biggrin.gif:
I just debated at a tournament the whole day. Afterwards, I did a crapload of research. I am exhausted. I don't know about you, but I have to wake up early, in retrospect, at least, and I want sleep.

A good idea, but I think it should be the other way around.
