We have maps, compasses, clocks, yet no telescope!
I was just in single player doing survival mode when it got night.
Luckily I had found an npc village prior (With lifeless NPCs.. :L), and I climbed up to the tower thing to get a good vantage point of my surroundings.
In the distance I spotted something across the lake but I couldn't see exactly what it was in between the crowds of cows and sheep.
Waiting, rendering distance, nor brightness really gave me the full distinction of it was a spider or not. /:
So, a telescope or binoculars would be nice - If at all possible, of course. :smile.gif:
Yes, and if you play on "tiny" fog distance, it should only render what you look at through the telescope so people with slower computers can still see far. Minecraft is horribly inefficient.
Yes, I like the concept of telescopes as well. I have noted that Minecraft doesn't actually render terrain all that far out, so a telescope might require larger terrain rendering from the point of the player's avatar . . .
