I got Minecraft for less than a week, so I've been playing just a few days, and here are my first impressions and suggestions.
*) First of all, the game is awesome!
*) I'm dissapointed by dungeons. This could be taken to a much greater level! The exploration and reward of dungeons isn't big enough. Please bring them more in the direction of games with dungeons like Diablo, Hexplore, ...: more exploration, and better rewards (than just a chest with some small chance for a bit of gold or so). And by more exploration, I don't mean, to make them chaotic like mineshafts!
*) I'm dissapointed by mineshafts (I always think these were made by dwarves btw :wink.gif:). They're very chaotic, and maybe that's not bad. It could be like, dungeons are an ordered huge thing you can explore, while mineshafts are chaotic and hard to map. But here, too, the reward of all that hard work, is too small (that what's in the chests).
*) Pickaxes that break after a while is good, but I wish weapons and armor would not. I wish instead you'd invest in expensive and hard to get, but permanent, improvements to your combat gear.
*) The survival is awesome in the beginning, but after a few days it misses some things. I think that, it should not be possible to make a diamond sword on the same thing as on which you can make a wooden sword. In fact, I think that making wooden tools can be as easy as now, stone tools need some other crafting thing which you can only make from materials you could make from the one for wood. Then, steel tools would require multiple things, so that you'd have to set up a smithy with an anvil and furnace in your house. And finally diamond tools require you to build things requiring many materials from various sources, including things you can only make if you already have your working smithy. More advanced wooden objects, such as doors, ladders, ... would require a woodworking place in your house, again with something more complex than this simple crafting table. Then there would be some more growth in the way you work!
*) Fighting creepers requires you to hit them 4 times (with an iron sword), and requires you to walk backwards a few times, so that they won't explode (if you want their drop). Almost always when pressing the forward keyboard key (to walk to them) and using the mouse at the same time (to swing the sword), make the forward key get "stuck", so that walking backwards makes the game let me stand still in front of the creeper instead. This sticky key bug sucks! Please fix! I'm on Linux btw, using latest version of Minecraft (1.0).
*) There should be more achievements. There aren't that much.
*) The achievements which are behind "wooden sword", should also be unlocked when making any other type of sword imho...
*) Why is it so hard to find a multiplayer server on which you can do something? I didn't find any official server list? The game starts with the list completely empty? All I found was a website with some servers, but they lag, and you can hardly do anything on them! I want to see all those cool things which you see in YouTube movies about Minecraft!!!
*) There should be some kind of semi-multiplayer game mode: In this mode, you play single player, but sections of landscape, get downloaded from random parts of landscapes of other players playing in this mode, every now and then. Something like a single player world in which you sometimes find random content made on some random day by some random long forgotten player...
*) EDIT: almost forgot to add: it's a mining game! This game needs more mining tools! Probably mining trucks and drills is not in the spirit of this game, but, at least elevators and canaries?
*) EDIT2: And whenever I'm standing on top of something high, I'm thinking "this game needs binoculars"!
*) EDIT3: Oh yeah, also forgot to add: The scrollwheel direction to select tools is the opposite of what I'd expect, you should be able to invert scrollwheel direction (this is not the same as mouse look direction).
Do you think my suggestions are justified? :smile.gif:
Thats why there should be easier server hosting,Like in the multiplayer section theres a button you click.Something like
"Create Server" And there would be tons of servers :biggrin.gif:
*) Pickaxes that break after a while is good, but I wish weapons and armor would not. I wish instead you'd invest in expensive and hard to get, but permanent, improvements to your combat gear.
Then hoes shouldn't break either, they don't do anything hard, just till dirt, swords hit skeletons, so they should break.

NO, minecraft needs to stay simple in this aspect, I don't want to make complicated stuff to make better tools.

This is a glitch, not a suggestion.
*) There should be more achievements. There aren't that much.
I think there are plenty of achievements, and they aren't easy to do, like the ones having to do with "The End"
*) The achievements which are behind "wooden sword", should also be unlocked when making any other type of sword imho...
I never understood that either, is it also true that for "Getting an upgrade" you HAVE to make a stone pick/sword (can't remember which) and not just ANY better tool?
*) Why is it so hard to find a multiplayer server on which you can do something? I didn't find any official server list? The game starts with the list completely empty? All I found was a website with some servers, but they lag, and you can hardly do anything on them! I want to see all those cool things which you see in YouTube movies about Minecraft!!!
There isn't any official multiplayer list, and that list the game starts with doesn't exist, that just saves servers you put in.
No, just no, that would end in horrible consequences with people building annoying stuff, imagine all the traps that people could build that might end up in your world.
*) EDIT: almost forgot to add: it's a mining game! This game needs more mining tools! Probably mining trucks and drills is not in the spirit of this game, but, at least elevators?
You can make elevators with a very complicated set of pistons and repeaters, of course that is a little extreme, but what is wrong with ladders? For going down just make a drop that you jump down and land in water for fast travel down.

ragnarock200: awesome, are those things with the creeper faces pistons or furnaces

Many games are able to automatically find servers all over the world and let you join, e.g. Unreal, ...

By the way, I meant that those random player content would appear in new lands you explore, not that it'd suddenly appear on top of your house!

I'm for an anvil and more complex work stations.

your the only one I've ever heard vex about this so called "bug." Yet even if it is a bug you dont need to suggest to fix it.
*) There should be more achievements. There aren't that much.
Don't know what you mean. If you mean easier achievements I find your stance invalid.
*) The achievements which are behind "wooden sword", should also be unlocked when making any other type of sword imho...
Ehh, perhaps doesn't matter to me.
*) Why is it so hard to find a multiplayer server on which you can do something? I didn't find any official server list? The game starts with the list completely empty? Mojang doesn't supply official servers cope with it.

No way, I meant way harder achievements. Almost all of them just involve making one item. The kind of achievements I meant is like "dig to the bottom without using any tools", "kill 1000 monsters", "harvest 100 pumpkins", "navigate 10 km away from your starting point and then find the way back" and such.
Almost all achievements currently are easy, except the End related ones (I haven't done that yet and am working towards that! It's fun to have some goal!).
