So minecraft has achievements, but they dont do anything, so here is my suggestion for Achievement rewards, So when you get an achievement, it will give you a number of xp, say for Getting wood, that would be a 3 bars of xp that you would be rewarded with by getting that achievement. The harder the achievement, the better the xp. Sound good?
You can add ideas to this as well if you want.

No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...
One problem with this is that you can delete a file to reset your achievements, meaning you could do the really easy ones over and over for levels. This could be fixed if the experience was properly balanced for the difficulty of the achievements (or if the achievement data was stored online and permanent like Mojang is planning.)
The other problem is that experience is very temporary. You would only get that experience on one world and will loose it if you die or spend it. This becomes an issue if you can only get the achievements once (or don't want to reset them) because adding a temporary reward for something you can only ever do once is kind of pointless.

Thanks, Its good to know that an idea that you think up is agreed with other people.

Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
