Currently, for those who do not know, there is a launcher native to the OS that you log in with, then it runs the Java jar (universal).
The launcher needs to have a less annoying Tumblr thing (I keep clicking on it by accident), allow you to quit with CMD+Q on Mac, have a "play offline" button without having to attempt a login (for when the site is down), and have a "Run Server" button that runs the latest Minecraft server with the 1024MB RAM parameters default (but changeable) and the ability to right click players and ban/kick/whisper.
Also, the application is badly made in each OS in general. You can't really click into it, and the whole window is....annoying (I can't really explain, but you should know what I mean).
You really can't just launch a server with a button. I am aware that other games do it, but they have a complex system to automatically port forward, which doesn't even work on some routers. The system minecraft uses is fine. Get some basic router knowledge and port forwarding is not an issue whatsoever.
Also, use the search bar. This has already been brought up several times. reported for redundancy.
If you can't figure out how to run the server with the current way it works, you probably shouldn't be hosting a server.
I’m not sure if you’re talking to Morshu in particular, but he DOES know how to run a server perfectly fine.
Also, he’s having most of his emphasis on other things in the launcher, not just the “host server” thing.
I agree to hosting a server button. Reason is that LAPTOPS can't run servers. And don't say "You need to have tech know-how" because I have run a server before supporting around 5 people. I give +1 to this idea for server.
This is the 3rd time I've seen the "Start server button" suggestion. It would ruin multiplayer within days. It would be impossible to find the 100 good servers amongst the 100,000 temporary noob ones.
The launcher is perfect on windows. And quick offline would help people who got the game for free.

This, too. You need some tech know-how to run a good server. If you don't have any, then you shouldn't run a server.
