Do you think we need a better way to level up to use the new enchantment table? One way is the achievements. Right now they are mostly ignored, except for those who have nothing left to do or do it for the heck of it. The harder the achievement, the more experience you get, right? And they should add more achievements.
Not a bad idea, but they would have to make it so that achievements don't reset each time you get a new version of minecraft. It would be best if they were based on the world file and not global. As it is now, if you start a new world, the achievements carry over from whatever you did before.

To tell them how to live is to prevent them living.

I agree. I don't know how many times I have gotten the 'Getting Wood' achievement.
As I said before when this exact topic...with this exact poll...was made ( :dry.gif: ) this has a major flaw that cannot be addressed. Either it will be experience that you can only get once, or you will have to make it where you can get the experience for achievements again if you die. In the first case, people will put off doing basic things in the game to save the experience for when they can use it, rather than risking dying without spending it. In the second, you get the opposite problem. People will use the achievment experience to enchant, put the items away, and kill themselves to do it again. Or, to get high-level enchantments, build a suicide-station right by their respawn area, thus enabling them to claim the achievment points, die, and collect the dropped orbs when they respawn, over and over until they get the desired amount. Neither of these is desirable.
If I helped in any way, don't click that little green +, instead tell me how much you liked the post. (Only those who are incapable of earning rep the hard way have to beg for it in their signatures).
Eh, this isn’t a really good idea because other games (although I am completely aware that this game is “different”) don’t use achievements for anything other than to show off. Perhaps they could be in conjunction with XP points, but I don’t like it to be solely on achievements.

The point. You have missed it completely. Let me review:
If you can only get the experience once, it penalizes people for playing the game, as early game experience increases the odds of losing it before you can use it.
If you let players re-gain experience from achievements when they die, it lets them gain infinite experience via respawns.
In summary, case one is unfair, whereas case two is completely broken. If achievements are to do anything in game, it should be something that cannot be lost at all, like allowing access to new recipes. Savvy?
Post and vote on what you think.

Reminds me of Futurama's suicide booths, lol.
