Adventure maps need a way to bounce their players back into action once they die.
Seds won't do because they only work at night. and you need something that works 24/7.
Sometimes when you die, in most adventure and puzzle maps, if you don't have a friend who did not die, that's game over. and it sucks.
What if you play on SP? auto game over once you die. or try to find your way with flying. risking you will uncover future things in the map and ruin it for yourself.
My idea is this, make a "Spawn pressure plate" one a user steps on it, it's sets his spawn point to the top of that pressure plate.
If the user presses several Spawn pressure plates, the spawn will be determined by the most recent pressed pressure plate. What do you think community?
I've also seen adventure maps have a system of levers and doors. Basically, at "checkpoint" areas you would pull a lever and a route would open to the spawn room/area. Then if you die you just take the path to the most recent checkpoint area.

That's way more complex than what I suggested. don't you think?
Why not ask to change the beds so that you can use them to set your spawn even during the day? The player would lay down and the screen would get dark but if it were day it wouldn't skip time.
I think this is simpler easier and better than adding a new item...
This sounds like something good for a mod. And change the Sed to a Bed, I have no idea how you ended up hitting the S instead because B is several keys away.

EDIT: Do you also want it to output a redstone signal when stepped on?
EDIT: gtg for today, will release tomorrow.
