After trying to lead some animals over long distances and up cliffs, I feel a better solution is needed. A cage would be an item that works as follows: click on an animal to capture it, click again to release (just like a bucket). It would make it much easier to get animals to where you want them.
I imagine that the cages would only work on neutral mobs, excluding villagers and squids. They would be overpowered if they worked on monsters; you could just pick them up and dump them into lava or something.
Perhaps you could only pick up animals if you fed them. That will take care of the issues with monsters, etc. It's hard to stuff an angry animal or monster into a cage.
Not bad. That would be a hell of a lot easier than pushing them into a hole, or placing blocks around them. Another idea is to have mobs not despawn in them and have larger cages when you place more than one next to each other.

[quote=Badgerz]You have to keep in mind that people are stupid.
[quote=Catelite]Just because you don't understand how something works, doesn't make it broken or pointless. >_<
