I agree, the beaches were nice and provided a good transition between land and water. The new biome code seemed to have screwed everything up...

The thing about spawning on beaches. It made it look like that you have awakened marooned on an unknown place. And now you have to survive and find out the mystery of this place. Oh and there are monsters trying to kill you.
So yes, bring back beaches.

The problem is, for me of course, having the terrain generator modified again is more of an annoyance than the absence of beaches. That is the only reason I'm not signing this. I think beaches are a great idea, but I just don't want my world to get ruined all over again.

That's no problem at all, I understand your situation. I also find it very annoying when the terrain generator forces me to begin a new world to avoid those generation mishaps.

Of course, that brought me to wonder why the older terrain generator had to be replaced with the current one. It was perfectly fine, beaches and all!

And you shouldn't have a problem even if the terrain generator is changed. Jeb stated he'll implement backwards-compatibility for older worlds when changes to the terrain gen are made.

I personally would love more beaches, but preferrably only for oceans and large lakes, since RL rivers/lakes don't always have full-on beaches, sometimes just dirt. Also. I think maybe gravel vs. sand beaches should be based on biome. Perhaps mountain, tundra, and pine forest biomes have gravel, while the rest have sand.

Funnily enough I didn't notice that he removed beaches until you posted this. Still, they where a nice feature and I liked them. I hope he re-adds them.

Oh what a pleasant surprise, the thread has been moved to the Suggestions Subforum by the kind mods.

I hope that this thread will not die alongside the Swamps topic which has also been generously bumped to this subforum. That seems unlikely and Steelfeathers, who started the aforementioned Swamps topic, does not seem to have had any success with PM'ing the moderators. Alas, I see no point in doing the same.

All I can ask is that you, the reader, continue to spread the word of this terrible issue and make sure that this thread stays afloat for as long as its needed.
