First, we would need vanilla flowers, which could be collected and crafted into vanilla beans. These flowers should be most common in plains, and especially in the outskirts of a desert biome. (Vanilla prefers warmer climates)
Then, you craft a bowl with a snowball, sugar, a bucket of milk, and vanilla beans to make vanilla ice cream, and do the same recipe but with cocoa beans instead of vanilla beans to make chocolate ice cream. It acts like a potion of swiftness (sugar high) and restores 4 hearts.
Nice idea. If you're okay with it, I will add it to http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/804077-food-ideas/ and credit you. The only thing I would add would be the ability to put the beans on farmland to grow more of the flower. (flower will drop 1-3 beans). If that's okay with you please let me know :smile.gif:.
Yeah okay,I don't like this idea.I don't hate it.Its not worth hating, but personally I just don't want icecream in minecraft.I cant imagine that,I really just can't picture icecream in minecraft,I have no clue why.I know there are cookies and everything. But I personally just don't like the idea. Its not terribleidea though.

Sure! And it was mentioned that vanilla grows on a vine, so make it where there are wild vanilla vines with flowers on them, break the vines, get vanilla beans, and you can plant more vanilla vines on farmland with those seeds.
I think some people might have the idea that Ice Cream is a high-tech sort of food, and thus wouldn't fit within the low-tech setting for Minecraft.
The thing is, you can make Ice Cream by stuffing Cream and Sugar and Flavors into a coffee can, sticking it inside a larger coffee can, stuffing the part between the two with Ice and Salt, and then shaking it or rolling it on the ground until the inside has frozen. It's not at all high-tech to make Ice Cream.
For that reason, and because Minecraft has the basic ingredients already, I am in favor of Ice Cream within Minecraft. It should be high on the food list, like Cake, because it takes a lot to assemble it.
First, you get some Milk, and turn it into Cream in some fashion. This is a function that would have to be added.
Then you find Sugar, Cocoa Beans, and Snow (I'm not sure if Snowballs or a Snow Block is better for this purpose).
Then you find Salt. This is the other thing that would need to be added. It's reasonable to boil a bucket of Saltwater to get Salt out of it, or you could find Salt Blocks to mine. Perhaps you find Salt near the ocean? It could occasionally cover the beaches like snow covers grass. (Salt makes the ice freeze the cream faster, or something like that.)
Finally, you take the Bucket of Cream, add Sugar and Cocoa Beans to make Chocolate-Flavored Cream, and then surround the bucket with Snow and Salt to make Ice Cream. Perhaps like this:
...where the Diamond is the Bucket, the Glass stands for Snow, and the Feathers are the Salt.
If you wanted to get slightly more realistic, you'd have to combine two buckets to make an Ice Cream Maker, but I don't think that's necessary.
Also, Vanilla would be a nice addition, but it's not really necessary for the basic recipe. Although perhaps you could make a Pumpkin Shake?

seems like the kind of thing that would be exclusive to a mod, but not implemented into vanilla (no pun intended). way too many steps and unnecessary items. i mean, the cake isn't even cooked so there's no need to add salt for extra realism. if it where to be added why not just have a bucket of milk surrounded by snow/snowballs?

My nephews and I have started posting Minecraft videos on my YouTube channel! Fairly random, but enjoyable.
General schedule is 4 PM Mon-Fri and 10 AM Saturdays. Most popular MC vid so far is the one Vechs laughed at on Twitter!
