The wiki says that, having a leather Cap, Pants, and Boots with almost no durability at all gives a tiny bit (this is as of 1.8.1) of defense, but adding a full-durability Diamond Chestplate will skyrocket your defense.
This is a bit illogical.
Put on an old hat, old pants, and old shoes IRL.
Nearly no protection, correct? Putting on a bulletproof vest will not make you more resistant to an explosion.
This is Minecraft, but it needs to be semi-logical.
This is a game
A awesome game, no less, but a game, so they can't exactly add every little thing thats illogical
Creepers are illogical
floating blocks are illogical
the Nether is illogical
ghasts are illogical
blazes are illogical
These things are illogical because they float, are not real, etc, but there in the game anyways. because its a GAME
A creeper may not, but what if you accidentally lit a stick of dynamite?
A bulletproof vest would give you minor protection against the explosion FOR YOUR CHEST.
Not your head or your feet or your legs.
Oh, and maybe some people WANT it to be semi-logical or realistic.
I actually DO go and punch trees when I'm bored.
I acquire bark, not wood tho

I don't see how that's illogical...
Full durability Diamond > Almost gone Leather
Is that hard to understand? Because it doesn't seem hard to every other game ever made...
Unused+Harder to get > Used a lot+Easy to get
You don't see my point, do you?
Putting on strong armor with weak armor shouldn't give you MASSIVE defense bonuses, nor should putting on weakened strong armor with strong weak armor decrease your defense.
If you read before, I said that you may light dynamite and have it explode.

Why shouldn't it? It's a game. Think of it like this; diamond armor gives you +15 defense, weakened leather armor gives you +1 defense. Together it gives you +16 defense. Basic mathematical logic that you learn in first grade here...
If you read before, I said that you may light dynamite and have it explode.
This is irrelevant. Guess what? People aren't blocky in real life, and real life physics and force on objects is not simulated in Minecraft. The minute you try to compare Minecraft to real life again is the minute I start passing liquid gold into the toilet.

Don't make me go all steriotypical on you.
Yes, that does make sense, but, let's say...
Decayed Diamond leggings give 2 defense.
Full-strength Leather caps, tunics, and boots give a total of 7 defense.
If the outcome is 4 defense, which is basicly what happens, how does 7+2=4?
If that is true, then golden Apples will be obtained from killing Chickens, and Diamond ore would be super-common, and require fists to break.
Does 7 + 2 = 4?
NO.
Alright, 16 + 1 = 17, but strong, decayed armor with weak, new armor shouldn't be an odd problem.
Don't be a realist. Be like Mario.
He's some fat Italian plumber made by a Japanese dude
that runs around saving princesses by jumping on evil, brown mushrooms with two half-teeth half-tusks
and walking, man sized turtles, some of which can spout wings and sustain controlled flight,
with large evil large mouthed plants coming out of green pipes, growing larger by eating mushrooms, gaining extra
lives by eating green mushrooms, and has a dragon turtle man thing with orange hair for an arch nemesis.
There are also lots of blocks in that game.
And it makes no sense.
However, nobody questions it's nonsensical authority.
And the same should be said about Minecraft.

Plus, It is a game. Do you think a creeper will walk up to you irl? So why does the armor system need to be logical?
Don't be racist. Be like the panda. They are BLACK, WHITE and ASIAN! Oh. P.S. Youtube is same as MCForums username.

I'm sure that in real life we can count on green exploding monsters as well. /megasarcasm
