the ability to craft a larger map out of two or more normal maps would be cool. This would be very useful if you've spent a long time in the same world and you have explored so much that you have like ten maps or something then it would be useful if you could craft a few of those maps into a larger map so that you wouldn't have to carry so much maps if you want to travel to some far corner of the area you have already explored
You can never explore too much of the world. The maps go on for over a million blocks in either direction, and when you are near the end you reach the Farlands, where lag will destroy your computer. What you're saying is you want to add another section of map where the Farlands are? Do you know why the Farlands look that way? Because the generator code has broken down at that point and no more of the map can be rendered.
^ Why would anyone suggest this? ^
He's talking about the paper maps you craft in-game, and it's a decent idea.
yes I'd love to craft maps into a bigger one, but I see 1 main problem: which of the (2, 4 or 9) maps you crafted will show up?
I think that the map should reset and have a bigger discovery range instead. however it should be costly, I'm thinking of crafting 9 normal maps to get a single big one.
Note: you should clarify your thread as some people don't understand you'r talking of the map item...
Finally a decent suggestion. Yes, along with craft recipes being visible ingame this is a must. Who wants to shuffle through like 5 maps?

Seriously, there needs to viewable crafting recipes in the game. Go support this idea. Also click on my profile to view my space thread under find content.
I see there have been some misunderstandings: I am talking about the maps you can craft in-game and use to orient yourself in your world. And to clarify my idea a bit further: I think you should only be able to craft a bigger map out of 4 or 9 normal maps, so as not to get rectangular maps or something, and the larger map would just show everything on the normal maps (by the way the size of the map when holding it is still the same, the area it displays is just on a larger scale)but then all the areas on the smaller maps would be joined into one larger map and the pieces that the game would be missing (like the gap when you create the second map too far from the other one) it would just leave blank for you to explore and if an area of a smaller map would not fit on the larger map then that would just not show.
lol I hope you guys understand this cus I think it might be a bit confusing what I just described here :tongue.gif:

Exactly! Another disadvantage of having much maps is that you'd have to try out every single map first to see which is which if you don't have them organised since you can't see which map is which in your inventory or in a chest
