Something that myself and other members of the minecraft community have been wanting is the possibility of Zombie hordes. This has been discussed by Notch as well, in the form of the rare "red moon" event, which would create a horde of zombies that night.
I would like to take a new approach to that. Instead of a "Red Moon" event, which is very cliche and overused - at least in my opinion - add in a new game mode that changes zombie behavior.
New zombie behavior:
For one, zombies would now group together when they see each other. When 5 or more zombies are within a certain range of each other, an invisible, technically non-existent mob is created that they would huddle around. This invisible mob, hereby called a "guide mob", is what determines the movement of a zombie group. Any new zombies that see this group will join it.
When a zombie is following a Guide Mob, it is changed to where it will no longer despawn, and is saved with the chunk it is in, much like animals are. Additionally, Zombies no longer die in the sun. Instead, they become weaker, doing less damage and taking more damage when hit. However, zombies will also path towards darkness in order to be stronger during the day.
Guide Mobs do not wander aimlessly like individual mobs do. Instead, they will deliberately travel in the general direction of the player, although they will not travel directly towards them unless a zombie in the group sees him or her.
If a zombie DOES see you, it will let out a loud growl, or some other similar "calling" type sound, and it will alert all nearby zombies to your presence, causing them to move towards you.
Villagers:
For villagers to play a role in this mode, their AI must first be improved. With the new AI coder joining Mojang, this may not be an issue. However, I am going to make some suggestions for villager AI.
First off, villagers should be able to gather their own resources through farming, wood cutting, and mining. They must also know how to craft their own items and build their own structures in order to expand their villages and defend against the zombie hordes.
Second, villagers should slowly spawn in their villages as long as there is still at least 1 in their village. This allows for village populations to expand.
Finally, villages should fight the zombie hordes if they come near. They should send warriors with armor and either swords or bows to combat them.
Please let me know what you think of this idea, and give any suggestions if you have them!
I like the idea, hope someone important at Mojang (Noth, Jeb, or someone that knows them) sees it. I would also like, if there was an entire gamemode devoted to it. As in Creative, Survival, Hardcore, Zombie Apocalypse. Or something like that.

That's what it would be. It's a world option for single player, and a server option for multiplayer.
Villagers shouldn't mine or destroy forests, I would like to be able to do things near them. If villagers could do things players can do, anywhere near a village would be a resource wasteland.
This sounds like fun. Maybe instead of being in the normal survival game, they could create a new game mode with it. But instead of one guide mod, there will be several, and you have survive day after day as long as you can.

It is designed to take place in any world that the option is activated in.

Could I get some feedback on these new things?
This was actually suggested in November of last year

Wow, I am surpised this was brought back! I'm glad to see that people still want better mob AI
