As Minecraft 1.0.0 came out recently, there have been players wondering about possible additions of new blocks and materials to the Minecraft universe. Some popular items of discussion were Darkstone (Absorbs light, instead of giving it off.), Glowstone Dust torches (Brighter than typical torches, shinier in color, albeit harder to obtain), Glowwool (Wool with glowstone in the middle), and many others. Input from the community would be nice, as we all want to make Minecraft seem as vast and deep while remaining simple and carefree.
One of my ideas was to implement Diamond dust, which can be made 2 from a Diamond. When combined with an Awkward Potion, it increases XP gain for a certain amount of time, with a certain percentage.
Not to mention...Obsidian chests. Cobble chests. Mossy cobble chests. Netherrack chests.
Chests made out of all the materials you could imagine.
i had an idea for this once, it's crafted like a normal chest with obsidian and a diamond in the middle. It's blast resistant (take that creepers!) and holds twice as much as a normal chest
Their really isn't a need for all this. What can we do with wool that glows? Regular torches are bright enough, not to mention the fact that glow stone is much more valuable. Why would we need a stone that absorbs light? And not to mention that all you need to do to keep a chest safe is to keep it inside. I don't see much of a point in all this, it looks just like random crap that wasn't well thought out.

1. a lot of things, you just need to have an imagination, which clearly you don't
2. to create artificial darkness without fearing that mobs may spawn
3. players can come into your house in multiplayer so your argument is invalid
*also what if you are in a tight situation while mining and need a chest to store your items? That creeper over there has been eyeballing you for a while. I'd be a shame if you lost all of your stuff cause your chest blew up

1. Their is no Imagination in a glowing piece of wool. Its down right useless.
2. Who said that mobs wouldn't spawn in the End block? If it didn't allow mobs to spawn The End would be quite empty wouldn't it?
3. Who said that the chests would be locked? Whats stopping the players from coming into your house and taking something right out of the cobblestone chest? How would this be different from regular chests?
4. Being able to save all of you stuff before you die is too over powering.
5. I have notice you have been trolling me on other thread, its nice to know I have an admirer but please stop. It becomes quite annoying to see someone thinking that he is bigger then everybody try to show the dominance that he does not have.

trolling? your just acting like a jackass. trust me, if i was trolling the whole board would know(though I do like to keep my trolling to 4chan as I really would like some of the suggestions on this thread to be implemented)

I was simply stating my opinion when you bombard me for no reason what so ever.

1.Quite the contrary for the wool. Imagine the possibilities for creative servers, while single-players pimping their houses.
2. Chests that resist damage better than normal? Good. Chests that can camo in with a material that usually is overlooked? Better.

I personally like the idea of new block types. I really wish there was another kind of block in the Nether. The Darkstone one sounds like it could fit there. If Glowstone is found high up, on the ceiling of the world, Darkstone could be more near the bottom near lava.
I'd still like the sponge block back, or a way to craft it legally. That's one thing I liked from playing classic.
Camo chests would really be nice. That would make adventure maps even harder.

Any input, fellow Minecrafters?

you could have been a bit nicer with that for instance.

Instead of holding a discussion about what blocks to theoretically make...
POST THE DAMN BLOCK and FULLY DESCRIBE IT!
Makes everything so much easier that way.
As of right now, the OP has posted very little detail per block so I am reluctant to post further.
Also, tweedle dumb and tweedle dumber need to stop having their little shitstorms.
