So as the title explains, i have been rage quiting my worlds because of something, and that something is that when you die, you lose ALL of your XP and cant get it back, now this isnt bad when you are level ten or lower, but i have been getting up to levels in the 30s then die'ing. It is really frustrating, because i get really high level early in the game before i can make a enchanting table, then when i make one i have to make a huge reed farm to supply the book cases nessesary to allow me to enchant things that high level. So my suggestion to anyone who cares, Is that you really should be able to get your experience back after death, or at least have some sort of XP bank sort of thing. Because it really really pisses me off when i die at level 25+
So, whats your thoughts on this suggestion? Do you think it would be good? or do you think i just rage to much and should stop whining and go and grind back to the high levels?
Don't rage then. Don't be a moron and delete your maps, just kill more things and regain the levels, I do this all the time. I can get to level 12 in one night. The exp dropped on player death has been reduced, by the way. Just pick up the exp orbs that you drop on death.

Most of the time you dont drop XP orbs when you die, this was the case just a few seconds ago when i was raped by a skele jocky and a creeper that fell from a mountain onto me, i went back to my spot where i had died and there was no XP besides the skele's XP from the creeper explosion, but i have seen it drop before.

Sometimes this is impossible to do depending on the way you die. I lost about 25 when I died in an abandoned mine that was far away from my base. I learned my lesson on that one though, I now have a mini base w/bed in the mine :biggrin.gif:
I don't find it frustrating at all. Hell, just make a giant slaughter house for animals. That's what I did. Just keep a few alive.
Besides, it's much better than when ALL the EX you earned flew out. ****, I remember when had around LV 70... My game crashed in an instant - never could reopen the thing it was so laggy.

It's hard waiting around for something that you know might never happen; but it's even harder to give up when you know it's everything you ever wanted.

I think you rage quit and whine too much, personally. Perhaps you should work on gathering your resources for making an enhancement table before you start to level up. Just get down in a cave or make a mineshaft and avoid mobs until you've got everything, then go back to your base, craft the enchantment table and THEN go outside and grind near your house, so if you die, you can just run back quickly, grab it, and keep going. If you plan on going far away from your base or adventuring, get your shiny magic sword and tools before you do, so you don't risk losing the XP.
Personally, I like losing them upon death. It adds to the challenge and makes you not wanna die more. Before, the only real thing keeping us from suiciding down a hill and being like "Oh, I'll just come get my stuff back, I don't wanna take the time to climb down safely" was the possible lose of our possessions. But now with XP, we can't just take short cut likes that and get all our stuff AND all our XP back. Gotta make choices and hard decisions now. The idea of being able to think "Oh, well, I have 30 levels saved up in my XP bank, I can lose these" isn't good to me.
Part of your XP that you lost should always drop with your stuff, mine always does. You might have a bug or maybe it disappears faster than other items and you aren't getting back in time for it.
Personally, I don't see the problem as being in losing them on death. You drop your items on death and must rush back for them. Is it annoying? Yes...but it's death. If you were playing a different game, or playing on Hardcore, it would be the end...start over or load a previous save if you have one. We could debate on the merits of letting players manually save, but the fact is that you can back up your map if you choose, and death is not as big a setback in Minecraft as in other games. Rather than loosing all your progress up to the last time you remembered to be careful, you only loose what was on your person, and your own growth.
Now, I'm not saying that I haven't ragequit a map or two, mostly when the terrorist bush squad ( ) takes a chunk out of something I worked hard on and just don't feel like rebuilding, but as far as it goes you get off pretty easy where death is concerned.
That said, I do have an issue with experience. It's forever and a day before you can do anything with it. If there were other things than just enchantments to spend it on, the loss when you die wouldn't be a big deal...it wouldn't be "*$%#@! My life savings!", just your "spare change" as it were. In this thread I discuss one ting that could be done with exp in the mid-game. Or maybe there could be a "Perks" menu accessed at any time that lets you buy temporary buffs in exchange for experience (call it Magic Spells if it makes you happy), but really anything that makes it possible to get some use out of all that experience would be good. Yes, in practical terms you're not really loosing much when you die (technically it was useless to you anyway). However, things to spend it on would keep players from having feelings of having had a whole lot of something and losing it, or at least give more of a feeling of not having been forced into losing it.
dying and losing my stuff. is the part in minecraft i hate the most. and usually 80% of the time i die i ended lost in a cave [ i don't have to find a random cave to get lost in one, i get lost in almost every cave i end up digging into in my own mine.
usually after a few hours i can have a labyrinth that is like minecraft catacombs under my house.
the other deaths i have the most are when i'm so far from my home it is pathetic and there is no way in hell i can get back let alone find where i died in time to get my stuff. so i have singleplayer commands mainly for the keep items command. at least all i lose is my xp. considering i have a damn hard time finding diamond with no dectector and i do shaft mine. diamond hates me is the only thing that explains it.
but the stuff i worry about mostly is the diamond stuff.

Notch is hardly going to add a handicap for people who have short tempers.
