What did the swamps look like before 1.9? I don't know how well you could make the biomes merge while still keeping the blocky look. As for the color? It's a swamp. Swamps are icky looking.
Dude, swamps are not beautifull in real life at all, this biome is supossed to look ugly, the water in real life swamps are ugly, etc.
Don't like don't play
Even if you like swamps the way they are, we should still have the power to change that if we want. We should have the ability to modify swamps in texture packs so that if you want them ugly, you can have them ugly, and if I want them pretty, I can have them pretty.

My Website. I make mods for Minecraft and am also making my own game.
At first i thought they did just take a dark patch on the Foliagecolor.png. Then i played on a texturepack that had custom biomes, and they were still greyish..Idontevenknowifthatsacolor.

Once again, Mojang can keep the color, as I agree, it makes them look gloomy. BUT allowing us to edit them in a texture pack is a must. Also, here's how they keep the transitions. Grass blocks are gray. There is a file that has all the colors from one biome to the next, it looks like a rainbow. Thats what changes the slightly blueish tint of grass in mountains, to the brownish tint in desserts. Thats how EVERY SINGLE BIOME WORKS, and Notch adding that hard-coded overlay, just seems well... lazy.
To tell you the truth, I kinda like the swamps. I DO not like how sometimes you find a swamp and then all of a sudden in the middle of the swamp there is some normal water. I would like it if they could fix this.
So, can't a mod be created that allows you to make texture packs that can change the look?
Besides, I've always actually liked the swamps. I think it fits well into the game. And it is a swamp after all.

I was gonna make a thread just like this one but didn't. I took screenshots too...
Why does the first picture have green water and black grass while the other two just have dark grass and water?
I belive the texture should quicly fade when the graphics are set to fancy. If this happened I would once again enjoy swamps. :happy.gif:

in my opinion, 1.7.3 is my favourite minecraft version, and lots of things were ruined in 1.8 and 1.0.0
