Not everything in nature is a euphoric wonderland of beauty. Sometimes nature has to have that blemish, and it's a fact of life.
And sudden transitions like that do exist in nature. Just take a look at Rio Negro in the Amazon river.

This is what the river you posted really looks like:
That is a pic of the 'Meeting of Waters' in Brazil. The Rio Negro, a river with dark (almost black coloured) water, and the sandy-coloured Amazon River that happens to run side by side.
The river runs for about 3 miles without mixing, which can only be achieved by the speed of the water and the water density. This is different from swamps in Minecraft because the waters there are still and not moving.
May I remind you that this effect is one of it's kind in the world and that these rivers are in no way related to swamps in the first place. So unless swamps have waters moving 4-6kmph parallel to each other all the time, and meets all the sediment and temperature requirements, (which they don't, because they wouldn't be called swamps anymore, they would be called rivers), then your argument is somewhat moot and strawman in a sense.
Complainers will keep complaining...
Shut up, they're fine deal with it. I think they look great. There's a lot better things they could be fixing or modifying.

That's very, very true, even if I can't think of anything else they could fix or modify.

People are only asking for the removal the swamp textures from being hard coded into the game so that people can texture pack swamps to their liking, just in case people like you want to keep the old texture.
If you can't think of anything else they should fix, then it's only logical that they work on the aesthetics of the game. What's wrong with making the game more polished with a better mod interface, especially when texture packs play such a huge role in the modding community?
Changing the swamps from being hard coded doesn't affect the way you see or play your game if you use the default texture pack, so why are you so resistant to this petition?
seriously, it's not very pretty to look at the swamp water smashing into the regular/other water. Especially when it's near something you're building or frequenting. >_>;

Users lack the mental capacity to have intelligent discussion, and mods lack the mental capacity to make intellegent decisions... I give up trying to share my intelligence with the world.
Yes because as well all know swamps are homes of the super cute beauty fairys who make everything beautiful and lovely so should look just as beautiful theres no such thing as the swamp thing or other horrific disgusting swamp creatures! they are all called *the swamp beauty* hell even swamp is a beautiful word.
<sarcasm off>
I know some people would appreciate the option of being able to make it such.
You may continue to live in your mudhole if you like, no one will stop you. In fact, I encourage you to. It suits your personality.
Our SMP biomes are changing such that my mate's grand estate will now have a big stripe of swampgrass across the lawn. Half the hedges, lawns, trees, and shrubs will be green, the other half will have a noticeable jarring blackened appearance.
The area affected by this is huge - so huge he might crash the server if he tries to move the whole shebang using WorldEdit.
FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
(I live entirely within a swamp, so I don't care)
edit: swamps are green, verdant places. The water is indeed darker, sometimes yellow, orange, or brownish because of all the organic matter, but the living vegetation is usually just as vibrant as the jungle.
Everglades understory appears brown, but that's the trunks of green, living things. THe water is darker, but not black. Take a glass of it and it appears yellowish, green, or slightly beige. But it's transparent and translucent. Only appears black because the substrate is black and dark brown, rotting leaves and such.

no you see what I do is I DONT live in swamps if I don't like the look of them, I don't scream *swamps don't look pretty change them so they look pretty* if you don't like swamps don't live in them, its like saying *snowy biomes are so boring all one colour! they should be every colour under the rainbow with no snow! oh and ice is annoying it gets in the way so get rid of that! huzar for no ice or snow snowy biomes!
However I do agree it should blend with other biomes a bit better
In other words, you agree wholeheartedly with the OP.
Too much ugly.
The transition should've been fixed on the first patch after they got implemented.

My Website. I make mods for Minecraft and am also making my own game.
Maybe the swamps could look more swampy?

I don't care how it looks as a biome. I care about how its borders look when they mesh violently against the other biomes.
