Yes, i love the swamps but the transition sucks. And another thing is old worlds can have regular biomes changed to swamps which is annoying too because it looks even more unnatural without the vines/lillypads/pools etc.
I would very much appreciate it if the swamp ground color was added into the 'gradual grass color transition', which looks very, very nice.
The abrupt lime green to dark green swamp grass is really bad.
In addition, I'm very much confused why swamp trees are not their own type of tree:
a.) Generated swamp trees can be growing in 1-unit-deep water, but, if you chop a swamp tree down, get a sapling from the swamp tree, and place it in 1-unit-deep water, right where you chopped the first one down, it doesn't stay.
b.) If you re-plant a swamp tree sapling in a swamp, it looks like a normal tree, not a swamp tree.
Yes, I realize this is because the swamp trees in fact drop normal tree saplings. I'm just saying this is weird. Why not add a swamp tree sapling/swamp tree bark, like you did with pine and birch trees?
/Signed. As most everyone has stated, I love the swamps, just not the transitions.
That's not the point, though. The point is that swamp biomes blend terribly with the rest of the biomes, from a bright green to a dark green instantly. You saw the pictures- No gradient, no nothing. Also the fact that texture pack makers cannot change this, as the swamp colors are hard-coded in the game.
Hope this cleared up some confusion and hopefully changes your mind. :smile.gif:
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the last pic.
Even trees were being made to look ugly, like some phsycopathic murderer I saw in a film once.
And the water was the most ugly thing I have ever seen in my life, It should be made to look murky and... swampy, not ugly and dark.
And the change in the colour of the grass was the worst mistake Notch ever did than when he messed up the code for pigs.
This is the full release, not alpha! What's so hard at making that smooth colour change you did with the other biomes? It's ugly! Not minecrafty!
And the worst of all, I read the 'Made swamps prettier' bit, it's ****ing bull****!
rh27un's nerdrage, over.

Dude, swamps are not beautifull in real life at all, this biome is supossed to look ugly, the water in real life swamps are ugly, etc.
Personally, I think they look wonderful. I live in Florida, and say that the swamp biome looks very close to its IRL counterpart, knee high quicksand-like mud, man-eating bugs and plant life aside.
However, I would agree that the transitioning between biomes, specifically those pertaining to the swamp, need some fixing.
I'm not unreasonable enough about the situation to demand a bunch of transitional blocks, but I'd at least like to see those stray bits of non-bayou water be tackled. A lot of water actually looks like that, where there is a green splotch in a big blue area. But these random 2-3 squares of blue in a big lake of green are off-putting. Water should look spawn and act like water, that is, not have about 3 feet of clear fresh water on the shore of a huge swampy lake.
But if they were to add 3 to 5 layers of transitional blocks on top of fixing the randomly-spawning bits of water... The game would be gorgeous. It'd definitely be something I would do as a modder if I was skilled with Java.

Don't like don't play
The issue is not, and has never been, whether or not the swamps resemble swamps found 'in real life'. Please read the OP, specifically the statement of goals at the very top.
Hmmm.... I sort of like the jagged borders because as someone pointed out on page one, everything inminecraft ends abruptly. I don't really like the color of the swamps and the water though. IMHO, this thread should be about options. Mojang, please just make it so that if people don't like it, they can change it. Seriously, all that needs to be done is include the swamp overlay in the biome gradient thing. Then, if people like the hard edges, then they can just edit the gradient so that instead of an actual gradient into swamp coloring, its a sharp cut.
TL;DR:
I'll sign, and I think that swamp coloring should be in the biome gradient file.

This man speaks the truth.
Dokem
And then to make it worse, they don't even transition into other biomes properly. I hate the new swamp biomes!
Swamps need to be editable.

Yep.
Yeah they are tons worst than minecraft's swamp so stop bitching and play
