My idea is just for a downgrade option in the "options" part of the launcher. I'm not one of the people who thinks the new updates suck donkey balls, but I would like to play on my server until Craftbukkit is updated. It would be a simple menu that looks kind of like this:
Downgrade to previous versions of Minecraft:
1.1.[Whatever] 1.2.[Whatever] 1.3.[Whatever] 1.4.[Whatever]....
I know that this can be done by replacing the jar with an old version, but I know myself and some others who have Macs which keep the .minecraft folder well hidden from the world. And think about it, it's easier and players would trust it much more than Mediafire (I don't have a problem with Mediafire, but some people don't trust it.).
While there are people who would like to downgrade, I'm pretty sure most people would prefer the current version which would make it an unnecessary addition. It is easy enough to replace the minecraft jar yourself.
Even my mac where I have to actually type in the entire extension myself in order to find the folder since it became invisible in my application support folder.
By the way, a good tip for mac users is drag your minecraft folder into your shortcuts so you never lose track of it again.
If people are desperate to downgrade. They'll find a way.
They should make the options available at least. I don't care about having the launcher auto-do everything for me, it would just be nice to have access to the older clients on the Minecraft site or something.
And just because -most- people won't need it, doesn't mean "**** it throw it all away". Some of you people are so selfish about ideas like this. If it doesn't affect you then why would you shoot the idea down in the first place?
I like the idea, but i dont think it should be a feature, however, should be easy to do.
Example: -Searching internet for older versions- and there should be a website that notch supports with the older versions avalible to download.

There is a website for this somewhere, but I don't remember the URL. You do, however, need to have paid for the game.
