Lyssa... Greek Mythology of mad rage and insanity.
Why did I decide to call it this? Because you'd had to be bat **** insane to mine the stuff.
And even more mad to actually made anything out of it.
It will make redstone and gold much more useful.
It makes mining much more useful...and dangerous.
Can only be found next to lava, however above diamond level.
Extremely rare, rarer then diamond.
Almost ALWAYS found by it self, not in a group.
Finding a group of 2 is like finding 6 diamonds in one pocket.
The stone is extremely volatile.
Should the stone lack a certain light level exposed to it. It will cause a small explosion.
The stone will even explode even if the player is holding it or in a chest.
When carrying it the player or chest must be in the light at all time, or risk death.
Four Lyssa stone can be made stable by using a crafting bench.
And put each Lyssa Stone in each corner of the crafting bench. A gold Block in the center.
And 4 redstone block, which is 9 redstone in a crafting bench each.
When crafted this will make 4 Stable "Lyssa Ore"
The Lyssa Ore can only be made into a sword or armor.
A Lyssa sword does more damage then diamond sword, same durability, the sword will auto focus aim towards nearby enemies.
And will glow a little bit when enemies approaching.
A full Lyssa armor set will burn any enemies within 4 blocks of you.
Slightly less durability then diamond.
Full set armor and wielding sword will give you a faint glow around you.
This will give players a reason to mine massive around of resources.
If you want the Lyssa stones you gotta work for it.
Remember the time when you first played,redstone and gold were epic finds?
Return that feeling, make gold and redstone a awesome find again.
Diamond aren't as cool as before, but don't worry, now there a newer, rarer, and more dangerous stone to hunt.
I want to put up pictures but I don't know how.
The stone kinda looks like lava in stone. Blackish Exterior.
Tools and armor are pitch black with some orange and red outlines.
Pardon my English.
What do you think?
I think it will make minecraft feel more magical, more rewarding when mining.
Less useless junk.
I didn't want to put up poll cause I want actual comments.
Edit - I know it sounds overpower, but just think how hard you'd have to work to get these sets.
Edit - Makes snow golem deadly, throwing deadly projectiles to protect you.
3 seconds warning when outside safe light limit.
It would make it feel like a optional quest if you wanted to.
It would be so rewarding.
Uuuum It sounds interesting, but seriously light level changes? I think that should only happen if the light level changes like 3 or 4 levels. With the new graphics system it is kind of hard to tell where the light level changes.
I like the idea but I don't think it should randomly explode. But what would be the advantages to using it?
EDIT: I didn't read that right but I think that would be a little over powered. Yes more rare but no need for it to be THAT evil

It does not "randomly" explode.
It explodes when not exposed to a certain light level.
And it has huge rewards.
Lights enemies on fire, more damage. Badass.
Maybe even turn those snowman guys that throw snowballs at enemies more deadly!
That be cool.
Protects you and throws deadly projectiles at enemies instead of innocent snowballs.
The dusky forethoughts grow wary;
As though the approach of doom;
The reader may find this scary;
This one must I groom.
With a system much too fickle;
A light of constant exposure to be met;
I have in earnest a sharp tickle;
How would the author have the lighting set?
Waning through the solemn remnant;
Its rarity is quite absurd;
And it's difficult construction so dependent;
Which makes this complaint a third.
Asking such a favor;
from a system declined by Notch;
When willing players savor;
Which we hope he won't botch.
While this suggestion is earnest in thought;
I am pleased by your earnest endeavor;
I cast my opinion as naught;
I hope these thoughts you don't sever.

Epic reply I suppose lol.
Lighting can be set by torches.
I guess it a little too rare, but I was kinda trying to think way back in the days when I first played,
thought diamonds were the coolest thing, kinda want something like that, but you are quite right.
Maybe I can make it just gold then, I was kinda hoping to make gold more useful.
As a stabilizer
I thank you for your honest opinion, and I know notch doesn't go through here....well rarely...
But it has it chances, anyways I just kinda want to post this just to see people opinions =D.
Do keep in mind this is just a idea at this point, it can be changed and tweaked to notches/community/modder liking.

In that case I'd leave it in a chest next to the lava and return with torches.
It all strat :biggrin.gif:
Perhaps It could warn you that the area is too dark and is about to explode.
3 seconds return to the light OH NO XD.

Almost haiku, and since I see no poetic value in haiku; I figured I try with simple abab off-verse rhymes.
