This is another suggestion of mine that lets you repair your items other than the other way where you struggle finding diamonds to make another diamond tool after it broke. This way, When tools are broken they just remain as a tool but their icon has a red X, That means you will mine and dig or chop blocks just like you are only using your hand.
Repair Table(Optional if Crafting Table does not fit this)
You'll need this table to repair your items. It looks like a crafting table but it's color is gray and it has a picture of a wrench on it's sides. And when you right click it, It will appear just like a furnace is but it has 5 boxes below instead, But it works different. You'll place the broken tool on the upper box and the materials at the lower boxes. Some tools does not need 5 materials to be fully repaired.

You can already repair items, place two of the same type of tool in a crafting grid, their damage values will average. Any other way to repair items seems overly excessive, as it just allows people to get their items over and over and over and over...

The values don't average, that would be nonsensical because the uses would go down. They add and then give bonus uses.
This idea I made could be possibly an alternative way to repair the items. But what I posted here is about repairing items with a price. I am not saying that I do not know that there already was a repair feature already. I just mean that this would harden the difficulty of repairing items for a bit. And their damage values will just stay the same.
I like it. And an organization note; could you make the bottom recipe the top one? It's confusing to see a wrench used in the recipe, and only then find out how to make a wrench.

I never really noticed what they did anyway, I just make new tools like a sane person.
