So I know there is sand by the ocean, and that can be considered a beach. But I'm talking like extented sand, with palm trees that have coconuts. The sand would only extend about 5 sqaures farther out than normal. There would be a new semi-rare ore which is basically sand with shells in it. The shells could be used around your house for aesthetics. Those are the basic ideas I have, if you care to add on to them, please do.
I think that the sand should extend 5-15 blocks further than normal, and add some sort of new ocean/land mob that lives on the beach and the nearby ocean.

I was thinking of a mob too, but I don't know if the public would go for that. They usually reject any mob ideas I throw out there.
Hmmm, maybe they could be passive, have like two hearts health, when you hit them(if they live) they do half a heart damage, and when they die they drop crab meat, which has the same qualities of fish.
The only flaw in 1.8 generation was leaving mountains to their own biome, consequentially making other biomes suck.
Same problem here. Beaches were, possibly accidentally, excluded in 1.8 but they were there in 1.7, as a part of each biome AND with enough space for your suggestions - more than your proposed 5 squares, even.
In short: idea is not good because they shouldn't be a single biome.

Thanks!
