one thing I am noticing is that the only really extensive biome in minecraft at the moment is the ocean biome. and I mean we don't have any fun ships or anything to do in the ocean biome such as npc ships, or pirates. So I was thinking on what could be a fun feature to add to minecraft, element specific biomes consisting of smaller biomes that fit into that element (and I mean like elements as in wind snow water fire earth, not chemistry elements. Or maybe have both, lol chromium biomes :3) so there would be a snow biome made up of taiga biomes at the edges of the biomes, then adding tundra in layers and at the middle having a large arctic biome with a hostile mob of human knights and some kingdom of a sort.
The easiest way to describe this would be to look at the northrand map (hoping it's spelled right) in World of Warcraft, now think of that except there would be mega biomes consisting of plains and small mountains, with small villages littered around inside (biome specific, maybe even a rare chance to have some monster castle or something).
So pretty much large mega biomes consisting of 6 or 10 snow, water, volcanic, or any other biome in-game.
and please do not say 'there is a mod for this', this thread is for speculation and conversation on the topic.
But what you forget here is that the larger a biome is, the greater chance a player has of spawning in one. You basically want a player to spawn in the wild every time, as this is what the entire game has been balanced around. Go changing that and you're asking for trouble.
do you mean an npc village? if so I can understand. but what I mean is that there would be two categories mega biomes, and the smaller section biomes that are inside the mega biomes, at the base, a frozen barren arctic biome could spawn, then 5 or 6 biomes spawn around it each a different type of snow biome, the npc village chance would still be the same no matter what, except maybe that in the arctic biome at the center of the biome group would contain a castle. and if the person does not even like them they could just turn the npc buildings and structures off.
simply put I am tired of biome that spawn beside each other that are just opposites of each other. like the snow biomes spawning beside a bunch of desert biomes. And the mega biomes would in themselves be rare, the biome needed to make them would spawn every 7 or 15 biomes. it could even be that the biomes connecting the mega biome groupings to the normal biomes would be a sort of bridge biome, so if it was a snow on desert pair it could be that there is an in between biome that is half snow half sand. or the old mountain biomes. those biomes would be good to use if they divide the biomes.
