I can understand the removal of silk touch on mob spawners. In survival mode, the acquisition of mob spawners is overpowered. However, in creative mode, there is nothing which is overpowered (well, perhaps large scale world edit features might be bad for a creative server). I therefore propose that mob spawners be placeable, and editable, in creative mode.
This change would greatly assist the makers of custom maps who won't or can't to use mods or external editors. Notch has given support to texture map makers, I don't see why he shouldn't support mapmakers. Mod support might be a different story, but Notch has shown interest in doing that as well. The allowance of mob spawners in creative would also help mob scientists and engineers such as myself. I enjoy building odd contraptions using mobs, but find it difficult to corral many mobs into one area.
You may ask "well what about multiplayer?" To which I respond, if the admin of a server does not want mob spawners on his server, he may impose rules regarding this. It is not the job of Mojang to adhere to a small portion of server admins. I also here, though I won't stand by this, that it is quite easy for server admins to ban certain blocks.
As of yet, I am merely putting the idea out to see what people think. If the idea becomes popular, I may take this further. Please give your honest criticism.

Keep in mind, just about everything on this forum will have been suggested at least once before, and if you are going to tell me to use search, I would like at least one reference to another topic, and the more recent it was, the better.
