Hello! So i was thinking what is there to make hunger better AND more realistic at the same time.
What my suggestion tries to simulate is when someone is at the extreme (hunger bar depleted) anything they eat will at least have some regenerative affects.
The Idea so far that would be most balanced:
9 Hearts+ regenerates to full HP.
you regenerate health up to 75% percent of what your hunger level is at. 8 hunger you allow you to regenerate to 6 health.
one you hit 3 hunger, you are no longer able to sprint.
basically this makes it so the max health you can obtain through regeneration is based upon how full your hunger bar is. for example, if you have 4 hunger left and you get hurt below 4 hearts, you will regenerate up until you reach 4 hearts.
This allows for those players who have their last food item to be able to get something out of it. im sure most people have had those times where they have 1 cooked pork left and it fills up half their hunger but yet all that does is postpone their death! it doesnt heal them in any way.
Of course, if you think this is too much of a buff on hunger/health regen. it can always be half. so if you have 6 hunger, and you get hit below 3 hearts, you will gain it back up to 3 hearts.
Probably a good idea. It can be a pain when your food does nothing for you.
If you want it really realistic: Eating alot of food when you're starving. Would kill you... Seriously.
While this is true in the real world, this wouldnt be very helpful to most of minecraft. esplecially PVP servers. you need to be able to eat and heal as much as you can. and having to wait a certain time to be able to eat again in fear of dieing is just not something i see happening in minecraft.
however this may be a good suggestion for a plugin that focuses on a challenge.
Not bad. I think it should be half your hunger, and when your hunger reaches the current regeneration level, or possibly higher, like 9 or above, then it can regenerate to full health.

I think what would be best is just to get rid the current regenerative properties where oyu need at least 7 hunger or above to be able to regenerate. and make the max health gained based on your hunger level.
this only sets the maximum you can regenerate to, not your maximum health. for example, you can have 10 hearts and half a hunger without losing health. This allows players that have time to rest get back to full health, while a person who continuously pvps is at a disadvantage unless they are good at micro managing their food intake to keep them as healthy as can be. yet also allows for those who forget to watch their hunger bar regenerate as long as their hearts are below their hunger.
So full hunger equals 5 health? Not too keen on that idea.
Sorry for the unclarification. If we were to use the idea where heart regeneration is = to half he hunger level, we would still keep the curren hunger behaviors where:
When the Food Bar is at 90% or higher, your health will slowly regenerate, at a rate of half a heart every 4 seconds.[2]
When the Food Bar is below 30%, you will not be able to sprint
When the Food Bar is at 0%, your health will deplete at the same rate it would regenerate when at or above 90%. On Easy difficulty, the player's health stops dropping at 5 hearts, on Normal it stops at 1/2 a heart, and on Hard it keeps draining until you die.[3]
This idea is wonderful! But I think the health could regenerate to three quarters of what your hunger is. Also, you should leave in the fact that your hunger will still regenerate when it's at 9/10 hunger, and you won't be able to sprint at 3 hunger =P

a 75% rule on hunger converted to health sounds good. so if you had 8 hunger, you would regenerate up to 6 hearts. I prefer this one. not being able to sprint should remain, forgot to mention that. ill go ahead and edit the first post with this.
