I was thinking, the new mountain biomes of 1.8 look cool and are huge, but they don't seem to have the same feel or look as what you would think a mountain would be like. I think it would be cool to have another type of mountain biome with mountains that start as dirt at the bottom, but then the rest is stone and up at the peak it would be covered with snow. Also, there could possibly be a stream running down the mountain from a single water block near the peak, and maybe occasional caves on the sides of the mountains. This would add more interesting and hazardous terrain that would be fun to explore!
Doubling the height limit? OH MY GOD YES! That'd allow for way more realistic mountains!
I know, right!? he said that just increasing the height limit was too hard, and that doubling it would be a lot easier. I don't have the exact post, but i'm 100% sure he said it somewhere.
Having actual mountains would make it a lot more interesting.
Wouldn't that cause more lag when loading chunks?

There IS a mod that increases the map height already, but it still doent have stone mountains with snow on top.
By the way, this is a good suggestion.
I think that the hight increase should only be brought into the high mountain biomes, as having every biome double hight would make LAG.
