Helllo minecrafters and, most importantly, notch! I have a few great combat ideas and i want to share them with you!
Ok, so first of all, the combat system is somwhat basic. I suggest we add combos such as swing-swing-thrust.
This can be used to make fighting mobs(specifically enderdragons)easier than just going CHOPCHOPCHOPCHOPCHOP DEAD YAY.
Next, one word. SPELLS.Players can craft a spell book and grow in levels to get new spells. Equiping the spell book will bring up a new hotbar in wich you can cast your spells! Fireball, blizzard, lightning,paralyze, and even a summoning spell!!
Finnaly,smaller things like enemy lifebars and lock on modes should also be added for a better combat experience.
Meh. I like the simplicity of it. If u added different fighting moves it would just get too complicated. The spells would be alright though. And can u really fight an enderdragon??
O MA GOD MINECRAFT IS A SIMPLE GAME, want combos and magic play grand chase, Magic really ruins minecrfta personally thnk, potions wateva idc and enhancing ya wateva, but magic like lightning CJB mod dude, and if there were combos tht wud really make combat not challeging, maybe if u get tired after swings ya sure but combos...really look if u want this MAKE A MOD, Notch isn't gonna make this happen, stop trying to get notch to do not stupid but pointless ideas, alot of people r gonna disagree wit me and idc this is my opinion.
My point is, don't ask notch, make a mod to do exactly wat YOU want.
Spells.. if this was one year ago, you would have everyone shouting "NO! No spells ever! No magic, no leveling and no dragons! That's not what MineCraft is about!"
Personally, I don't like how the bow works now. It's too slow. I don't like having to charge up my arrow in order for it to go straight. A fix to this could be to maybe make a new item that fires quicker but is weaker - a crossbow perhaps -, lowering the time needed to charge or just get rid of the charging thing completely.
I like your idea with the different sword swings and stuff.

you can fight an enderdragon in 1.9. i admit,the combo idea is kind of diminishing to minecraft. but i really love the idea of spells and lifebars for enemys.
I like the spells idea but it could be expanded apon and made really cool!
First there should be skills. You would unlock skills such as a spin attack with the iron sword by leveling up that weapon by attacking monsters with it. Every weapon (including fists) would have a ton of skills! Skills would use SP (Skill Points)
You would regain SP by walking around and you aquire SP by leveling up. You also could gain skills by doing simple actions a number of times like if you jumped enough you could gain a double jump skill or a wall jump skill! Also monsters should have attack animations so you could dodge and not get pwned because the monsters have touch damage. example: Zombie draws back his fist and then swings it at you so you know when you dodge! Onto magic!
When you kill monsters you will aquire MP (Magic Points) and then later when you reach a certain level you will be asked if you wanna trade in MP for spells. The early spells cost very little and will leave you with more then enough MP to cast them. The spell book would not be used to cast spells but instead power them up by doing stuff like... INCREASED RANGE, INCREASED POWER, INCREASED SPEED.
Spells start at level 0 and if you use them a certain number of times you can level it up to levels 1, 2, 3 and Ultimate!
Spells would come in 3 catagories. Attack, Healing and Other.
Attack: It harms the monster you use it on. Example: Fire, Thunder
Healing: It heals you or allies. Example: Cure, Revive
Other: It does some status effects to monsters or protects you! Example: Sleep, Force Field
Now for combos...
If you used skills in a custom order you could chain together special damage dealing combos!
Example: Slash, Upper Slash, Jump Slash, Spin Attack, Super Thrust.
Another thing would be combo finishers and combo starters. It would be a strong skill at the end or beginning of each combo that would deal more damage then when used normally!!
Example 2: Combo Starter: Energy Slash (20+ damage), Side Slash, Chop, Combo Finisher: Whirlwind Slash (20+ damage)
