You might be thinking "What? You can make cannons with TNT, right?" Well honestly, making those types are just too much of a hassle and take up a lot of space. What if there were a compact version? What if there was finally a use for iron blocks instead of them being decorative? You could place them out in the open, and in windows to fire them using a lever or switch, or redstone. After you place it, I think you could go into a firing mode with a good view of where you're shooting, and you can also turn the cannon about a 40 degree angle.
Here's what I think it would look like in the crafting table.
Iron ingot = Iron Block
It would take up 1x2 spaces when placing.
You can also make cannonballs like this:
Iron ingots = Iron ingots
Flint = Gunpowder
You would have to load in one cannonball at a time to make it more realistic. But if you lined up a few and used redstone to connect them all it could be much more effective.

I personally don't want any new items that does the same as something we already have. Since i personally feel that it would ruin the creativity of the game.
But it is the idea i like best of all the stuff you already can make :wink.gif:
Umm, i dont think we need cannons in minecraft. I mean... it IS minecraft. Just as i dont want guns, i wouldnt like this as well.

I don't like guns either, I'm trying to keep it more medieval type. I'd hate MC if it was modernized. I'd like a classic cannon that shoots cannonballs, and that's it.

Actually, very primitive firearms existed in medieval times. But back on topic, all we really need for a cannon in this game is a cannonball that we can fire from dispensers. Why add a second item-flinging block when we already have one?
If I helped in any way, don't click that little green +, instead tell me how much you liked the post. (Only those who are incapable of earning rep the hard way have to beg for it in their signatures).

Well said, well said. You're very right, I guess we don't need a 2nd item launcher. Just adding cannon balls is all we really need!

OT: Anyways, I fully support the idea of a cannon. Granted they should be harder to make, but :Idontgivea****: so meh. I just want cannons so I don't have to make a redstone 5 level cannon to get a single piece of tnt 100 blocks out
